Click. The normal-looking brain had been replaced with a bulging, bright blue mass of seething evil and what looked to be a small, flying pig.
"When a young witch or wizard experiments with Dark Magic- Potter, Weasley, I can see you back there. 10 points from Gryffindor each - the Dark Magic begins to immediately leave an impact on his or her brain. If you continue your abuse of the- Miss Morello, you may either give me that note you're writing or you may eat it. You have fifteen seconds - Dark Arts, your brain slowly begins to deform in order to align with the warped magic that you are emanating. Miss Morello, I see you have eaten the note. Good choice."

Why was he the bloody substitute Dark Arts teacher? And why had that stupid bint chosen now of all times to get attacked by one of Hagrid's jackalopes?

This is a common symptom of long-term Dark Magic abuse. The subject is also horribly deformed, another common symptom. It is rumoured that Grindelwald, in his early days, at one point had no less than three breasts on his back- stop that giggling this instant, Miss Brown and Mr Finnigan. 15 points from Gryffindor each for immaturity – and an extra leg sprouting from his side."
