THIS IS JUST SOMETHING I WROTE BECAUSE I WAS BORED IN MATH, SO I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT 

It was a special day for seven-year-old Peregrin Took; he got to spend some of the day with his cousin Merry. Merry may not have been as thrilled with the idea of babysitting his "baby" cousin. Early in the morning, Marry came to pick Pippin up. Merry then talked (it seemed forever to Pippin) to Pippin's mother, about common things to talk about, such as the weather, and what not. Somewhere in the long string of babble, Pippin lost himself, and started bouncing up and down, on the balls of his feet. And finally his mother seamed to think he would burst at any moment, (and that would not be very fun to clean up) and let them go.

And they were off. Merry had decided to take Pippin to a rather large tree, and have him try to climb it. When they arrived at the tree's thick base, Pippin looked up, (way, way up) at the tree, and decided that this was a good tree, and nothing could stop him, not even the rather large squirrel that looked as if it was going to start chucking pinecones at them at any given time. Merry lifted Pippin up to the first branch, and Pippin started worming his way up the tree. He got to the third branch (which was conveniently out of Merry's reach) when the evil squirrel started throwing pinecones at Pippin's curly top. Pippin screamed, and threw his hands over his head, which was really stupid because a moment later, he was tumbling out of the tree, his little hands scrambling to save himself.

Surprised, Merry started running around, dodging the pinecones, trying to find the spot where his poor little cousin would land. As Pippin came close to the ground, Merry dove across the soft grass, and caught Pippin just in time. Merry pulled Pippin up on his feet by the wrist, scooped him up, and started sprinting away from the mad squirrel.

They ran for a very long time, as they thought the deranged rodent was coming after them. As soon as they were at least a mile away from the home of the creepy bucktoothed monster, Pippin gazed up at Merry, and gave him the cutest little smile Merry had ever seen. They plopped down right where they were, (not that they knew where that was) and let out a deep breath. They laughed, and talked. Merry was having more fun than he ever thought he could with his "baby" cousin, especially when Pippin did a not-so-accurate impression of the mad squirrel. After a while of laughing till their sides hurt, they sat in silence. Until Pippin said, "What's the first step to being more like you?"

Merry responded with a sweet smile, and then said they had better get going, for it was getting dark. They ran almost the whole way back, until they were in sight of where they were going, and then they walked. Merry's footsteps showed in the sand. Suddenly, Pippin had the best idea. He took an extra large step and made his foot fit in Merry's print. Merry then asked, "What are you doing?"

Pippin responded by saying "It's the first step to being more like you."
