Song: Grown Up Christmas List, the Michael Buble version

This actually has nothing to do with the song, because I had one heck of a time trying to tie it in. Oh, and it was done like, a week ago, but I forgot to post it because work has been insane.

Hermione took another sip of her cocoa, letting the bite of the peppermint schnapps spiking it burn down to her toes. She walked over to the couch, humming along to her favorite Christmas song and dropped into it, pulling her feet up under her. The heavy knit socks she was wearing slouched around her ankles, and she set her mug down to adjust them. That done, she turned her head away from the fireplace towards the marvelous view. The lodge they were staying in looked out over a gorgeous lake, which was currently frozen solid. She watched ice skaters dancing around on the sparkling surface and let out a contented sigh. It was Christmas, and the first one her parents had elected to go away for since they had... reconnected. She shook off the unpleasant memories. It had been nearly five years since the war had ended, since she had retrieved them, she shouldn't let the fear and doubt creep up on her like this anymore. She picked up her mug and took another sip, letting the warm chocolate soothe her ruffled feathers. This vacation with her lover was just what she needed.

She was still staring out the window when someone joined her on the couch. The person threw an arm over her shoulders, ending up with their hand, bearing a snow white rose in her face. A smile broke over her, and she turned towards her boyfriend.

"It is beautiful. Thank you Draco."

"Anything for you Granger." He smirked at her as she took the rose. She rolled her eyes, and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"Drake, we have been dating for just over a year, are you ever going to stop calling me by my last name?" She spoke teasingly, cuddling into his side. He grinned down at her, and held out a closed fist. She gave him a questioning look, and held out her hand. He dropped an object into it. She held the item up, and stared at it, then at him.

"Draco..."

"I still call you by your last name because I'm hoping to change it. Will you do me the honor of becoming Malfoy?" He gave her a hopeful look. Tears rushed to her eyes, and she choked up. Unable to speak, she just nodded. A smile broke over his face as he took the ring and slid it onto her hand. It fit perfectly, and the diamond, flanked by a ruby and an emerald sparkled in the firelight. Draco reached out, brushing the tears from her face, and pressed his lips against hers. After a moment, they parted, and with mutual mischievous looks, retired to their room.
