I wrote this at 3am in a sleep deprived, thoughtful and oddly creative state. I don't really remember writing it and I don't really know exactly WHAT this is, but I'm just gonna class it as how Rose saw the Doctor as Davros was basically slaying him
.
As Davros continued to taunt and twist the Doctor's image, Rose Tyler looked towards him and studied. There was so much pain in his eyes and she had been aware of that as soon as she laid eyes on him on that deserted street merely hours ago, but now it was so much more clear. So visible that it almost spread to her as she witnessed a side of him being ripped out by the power-destroyed madman before them.
As he spat his words out like venom, speaking of death and destruction under the Doctor's hands, Rose's thoughts fell on what she didn't know about him; such as what the Doctor did after their seperation 2 years prior when she witnessed his hearts breaking through his now blazing eyes as she shattered before him. She wondered if he did in fact travel alone after she was gone and more importantly, if he did, what effects that had on him because now, the Doctor was filled with so much pain and sorrow, she could feel it in every move he made and it led her to reminisce on the leather clad Northerner she ran away with when she was 19. The man ridden with war guilt and pain in every word he spoke, however, this was a different type of pain she could sense. Similar, but different. It was almost a pain she could relate to.
It was clear that he now cherished and clung onto every single good moment that he experienced as if it would be his last one and even though he grinned constantly towards her after their reunion, she could still see through his layers and acknowledge his true anguish as his stare now burned into the ground as Davros twisted his friends into weapons. She knew he was partly correct, but they weren't warriors, they were defendants - defendants of all that was good in the Universe.
Now he seemed so on edge, he was shaking slightly due to pure anger and she knew that he was clinging onto the verge of breaking point by a thread. She'd witnessed the other side of the Doctor on rare occasions. She'd seen the reason why they called him "The Oncoming Storm". She had heard his voice raise and felt his words twist with damnation before, and right now she could see how hard he was trying to hold it in, to not let Davros break him down, especially in front of those he loved.
The man standing to her right was certainly the Doctor she had spent months trying to find, however, he was but a cracked shell of the Doctor she knew and came to love before leaving him on Bad Wolf Bay.
And it broke her heart.
