Sometimes Jasmine will go out and stand in the rain. As she lets it soak her clothes, her hair, her skin, she lets herself remember that day.
She's aware that standing out in the middle of a rainstorm isn't physically or emotionally healthy, but it serves as a reminder of what she was then and what she is now. Those dark days when she couldn't stop herself from hearing their thoughts over and over (Why is she starting at me like that she's so weird why doesn't she just die) and the day she learned her power wasn't bad, just how she used it. Succubus had been living proof of that.
Succubus.
Jasmine has deleted some of the worst Alienizers the galaxy has to offer, but Succubus had truly been a monster. A monster whose only joy was in senseless murder and fear, a monster who somehow had seen something similar to herself in Jasmine and wanted to keep her safe and all to herself while she and her brothers ravaged the Earth.
And she would have gone with her, if it hadn't been for Ban.
She agreed to Succubus's demand. She would have agreed to anything at that point if they'd just stop. But Ban had stopped her before she could take another step, pleading with her to not give in, trying to convince her no matter what, justice would win out in the end.
From anyone else it would have been empty words. From Ban it was a promise.
Sure enough, Ban had fulfilled his promise, and the Hell Siblings were nothing more than bad memories now. Still, Jasmine couldn't help but find something similar in Ban had said to her that day, and what Boss had said to her that day. She had been on the brink of despair, ready to give in if it meant an end to the pain, but Ban managed to bring out the part of her that wouldn't give up, that truly believed they'd win in the end.
She's not positive, but she thinks that's when she fell in love with him. Not that she's planning to act on that anytime soon. There are too many other things to consider right now.
Still, her feelings remain.
"Jasmine! Hey, Jasmine!" Ban must have run the entire way; he's out of breath. He's also every bit as soaked as she is. The only difference is that he has a yellow umbrella in his hand. "Your... your umbrella. You need it if you're going out in the rain."
She taps a gloved hand against her cheek. "And you didn't use it on the way here because...?"
"It's your umbrella, not mine." Ban speaks as if that actually makes sense.
Jasmine lets herself sigh as she takes in the sight before her. Ban looks... interesting with his hair plastered to his skull instead of spiked up. And when he grins at her as he holds out the umbrella... well, he really is too adorable sometimes.
Yes, she'd decided not to act on her feelings, but she decides right then she'd been an idiot not to.
"Ban?"
"Hm?"
"Could you hold still for a second?"
Jasmine is an ESPer. She can read other people's thoughts when she touches them. And as she kissed Ban, his thoughts came in loud and clear. I don't know why I'm standing still, but this is Jasmine so she must have a good reason... is she kissing me! She's kissing me! What am I gonna... oh, wait, this actually is kind of nice...
When she pulls away it's hard not to laugh at the look on his face. But she restrains herself and instead says, "C'mon, let's go back. I'll even share my umbrella with you."
So they go home together, completely oblivious to the people staring at the drenched couple sharing an umbrella after the rain's let up.
