A songfic from one of my favorite bands, Skillet! I skipped the first verse because it didn't match.
I OWN NOTHING! Enjoy!
The Doctor stood in a crowd. A crowd of fans for whichever band's concert the TARDIS had landed him this time. Donna followed him as he walked.
The band then started to play a song.
The older I get,
The Doctor sighed and pushed closer to the front of the crowd. Might as well experience it while he's here. He glanced back at Donna to make sure she was coming.
Will I get over it?
It's been way too long for the times we missed.
The Doctor stopped. This song reminded him of something he had been through. He didn't like being reminded of it.
I didn't know then it would hurt like this but I think,
The older I get,
Its true, he really didn't know it would hurt this bad for her to be gone.
Maybe I'll get over it,
He knew he wouldn't.
The crowd screamed and yelled around him.
It's been way too long for the times we missed,
I can't believe it still hurts like this.
Would it ever stop? Would the pain ever stop nagging at his soul, aching for the one he loved to return?
The time between,
Those cunning words.
He was thinking about turning back to the TARDIS.
Built up our defenses never made no sense it just made me hurt.
They built up walls of defense to hide their feelings for one another, but they didn't quite get the chance to knock them down.
Do you believe,
That time heals all wounds?
He used to think so. But since Rose has been gone, his wounds have done nothing but grow larger.
It started getting better but it's easy not to fight when I'm not with you.
He shook his head. He needed to leave this concert.
He turned around and started to walk back to his Police Box but he was stopped by Donna, who proclaimed that she loved this song. Figured.
What was I waiting for?
I should've taken less and given you more.
He shivered at the thought. What was he waiting for? He should've told her how he felt from the moment he started feeling it. Okay, maybe not that soon, considering that was when he first met her. But truth be told, he should have told her sometime.
I should've weathered the storm,
I need to say so bad.
He needed to tell her how he felt, even now. Uncontrollably, he whispered,
"I love you."
"I love them too!" Donna screamed over the crowd's sound.
Doctor glanced at her sadly, but she didn't see him.
What were you waiting for?
This could have been the best we ever had.
True, she didn't tell him how she felt til the last moment, either. It wasn't completely his fault, at least. But of course, he still felt as if it was.
I'm just getting older,
I'm not getting over you, I'm trying to.
He was just growing older, going through companions like hairdo's.
He wasn't getting over Rose. But he was trying.
I wish it didn't hurt like this.
More than anything.
It's been way too long for the times we missed.
Way too long since he'd seen her beautiful face. Her beautiful smile.
I can't believe it still hurts like this.
A tear slid down his face as the band stopped playing and the crowd went wild.
