"Forget Alice, forget it all," said Doctor Bumby, "It will hurt less if you forget it."

Alice lay on the sofa in Doctor Bumby's office for the third time that month. The treatments didn't work for Alice. The memories still haunted her mind.

"I can't! I see it all! Flames! Fire! Lizzy! Pluto! Mickey!" Alice cried. Her body twisted and her face contorted. Alice was slowly sinking back into madness. She knew Dr. Bumby would lobotomize her time if did not snap out of it. Last month's electroshock therapy did not work, neither did the month prior. Doctor Bumby was reaching the end of his rope.

"Alice! Snap out of it!" snapped Dr. Bumby.

Alice became aware of her surroundings. She sat up and smoothed out her dress.

"I'm afraid I must be going, Doctor. I am rather tired and wish to retire to my dormitory."

Dr. Bumby wrote down notes on his pad of paper, "it's time for us to be done anyways."

Doctor Bumby tore the paper off the top of the stack and folded it into an envelope, keeping the writing clear of Alice's view.

"Alice, please take this to Nurse Rutledge immediately, then I would like for you to go to your dormitory and rest as you wish. You have had a rough session."

Alice grabbed the envelope and left his office. She needed to know what was in the envelope. She hurried back to her room and locked the door behind her.

Alice tore open the envelope and started to read:

Nurse Rutledge,

Please make sure Alice Liddel Patient Number #852 does not receive any food or water after midnight tonight as she has a procedure tomorrow. Have her in Procedure room #3 by 9 AM. We should be done by 9:30 Am at the latest. Please have my pick and hammer sterilized in the meantime. Thank you.

Dr. Bumby

Alice tore the paper up and shoved it under her thin mattress. Nurse Rutledge knocked on the door and entered the room.

"Time for your nightly dose."

It was time for Alice to take the white pill. She never remembered what happened after she took the pill. She always woke up the next morning with no recollection of anything after swallowing. Alice took the pill out of Nurse Rutledge's hand.

"Are you going to take your medication?" she asked sternly.

"Yes, of course," Alice replied hurriedly.

"Hurry up, there are more patients here than just you."

Alice pretended to swallow the pill, but instead, hid it in her cheek. She stuck out her tongue to show Nurse Rutledge that she had swallowed it.

"Very well," she nodded. She left the room without any further question.

The lights went out in her room and she sat on her bed. The sun was setting and the daylight was fading fast.

Eventually all lights were out and the asylum went silent. The moonlight peeked through the barred windows. "Going mad again, Alice?" said a figure from the corner.

Alice's vision focused on the corner of the room. It was dark and she could not make out the figure. "Cat, is that you?"

He walked into the moonlight, "That is Cheshire cat to you, miss."

"What are you doing?"

"Go back to Wonderland."

"I can't. It hurts too much, I have to forget."

"We can never be forgotten, that's why it hurts so much. We are always a part of us as much as we are a part of you."

"How, Cheshire?"

"That's the challenge." He disappeared back into the night.
