Author's Note: Hey all! Back from camp with the opening to my new, and hopefully my best story yet! This prologue is a little odd, mainly just setting the scene, but it'll heat up next chapter. Enjoy and please leave feedback!
~Prologue~
I close my fingers around the leather bound album spread across the front desk. The Wawanakwa Inn, once a magnificent place for the wealthy to congregate, has fallen into a state of hopeless disrepair. But I was there. I witnessed the glory days. I held the door for starlets, I turned the beds of millionaires, I saw the first secret smiles that started a forbidden romance. Those days may be long gone, but I have my memories. And I have the book. The book lets me hold on to this place, what it was, and what I believe it has the potential to become again.
Hands shaking, I flip to the first page. Taped meticulously to the inside cover is a photograph of the inn, dated twenty years ago in careful handwriting.
And I remember.
Ivy climbing the walls, intricate patterns forming against the worn stones.
High towers touching the sun, cold gray contrasting against the bright yellow.
Red velvet carpets, not yet faded, wind their way through the quaint front doors, snaking through a gorgeous interior.
The sound of people. People everywhere. Guests passing in and out, each glance a snapshot. Snapshots of smiles, snapshots of tears. Snapshots of lives changing forever.
Here in the Wawanakwa Inn, the little snapshots come together to form one incredible story.
I am here to tell you the story. The story begins and ends within these walls.
The story starts now.
Author's Note: This story is gonna be... different. I'll tell you that much. Much more complex and deep than anything I've written in the past so I'm both excited and nervous on the chapters ahead. If I play my cards right this is gonna be a long, great ride so hang with me and REVIEW! Love you all:)
