This is my first attempt at a Barton Family fanfiction. I love emmerdale especially the Barton family and the Dingle Clan. At the moment I am really intrigued by the Barton Brothers. A fellow writer GleeGeneration23 gave me inspiration to write about the Barton boys as children. This story is a series of oneshots from them being little kids to now.
Hooe you enjoy, please review and let me know what you think. Any requests are welcome!
Four year old Peter Barton sat on the family couch in the living room, his left arm protectively around his two year old toddler brother Ross, who was happily chewing the ear on his favourite teddy bear not even phased at all by the arguing of his parents.
Peter wasn't a genius, he was four after all but he wasn't stupid. He knew it wasn't normal for his parents to be shouting and arguing the way they were and he knew by the strong language they were using that they weren't just pretending. Peter didn't know why his parents were arguing this time he just knew that his mummy was going to have a baby soon and that it wouldn't be right for her and his daddy to argue like this when the baby is here.
"James! Just stop it, look at the boys!" Emma snapped, she couldn't be bothered arguing with her husband. She was nearly at the end of her pregnancy with her third child. She was tired, sore and crabbit. James stopped in mid sentence, he turned to the direction of the sitting room, looking at his infant sons. He sighed and made his way over to the boys, he lifted Ross into his arms, the young boy whimpered and made a fuss when his teddy bear fell to the ground. Peter immediately bent down and picked the bear up handing it to his little brother.
"There you go Rossy, don't cry.."
Ross immediately calmed down at the contact with his beloved bear, he gave his brother a toothy grin and giggled. James smiled at the sight of his sons, they were incredibly close and in a matter of days they would have a new sibling.
"Okay boys, remember what daddy said?" James said as he walked down the white, sterile corridors of the hospital. He held onto Pete's little hand as he held Ross in his other hand.
"Mummy tired?"
"That's right pete,"
"Opital.." Ross's cute attempt at trying to pronounce 'hospital' brought a smile to the proud fathers face.
"Yes, remember daddy told you that mummy had a baby in her tummy?"
Both boys nodded their little heads and waited for their dad to continue speaking. "Well the baby isn't in mummy's tummy anymore!"
"Why not?" Peter questioned.
"Would you boys like to meet your new baby brother?" James asked, purposely changing the subject. There was plenty time in the car future to explain that one. Both boys. IDDD excitedly as they reached the room which was currently occupying their mummy and brother.
James stood over the little crib in the corner of the room, he smiled at his newborn son cuddled up with the soft white baby blanket. He popped the baby blue teddy beside him and smiled at his other sons. "Meet your brother Finn..,"
"Baby" Ross giggled looking at the baby. James smiled and handed Ross over to Emma who was desperately in need of a big cuddle from her other sons. James then picked his eldest son up and held him over the crib so he could see his new brother.
"Hello baby Finn.." Peter smiled as he bent over and blew a kiss in the baby's direction. That was his way of promising to always be there for his baby brother, to protect and keep him safe and to be the best big brother, just like he was to Ross.
