All that Heartache

A/N: Ok so inspiration hit me when I listened to the song "Mad" by Ne-Yo about a million times after SYTYCD aired on Wednesday. (BTW, this fanfic is based on the song; parts of the lyrics are taken out, but I don't own this song. All right belong to Ne-Yo)

Also, I sadly don't own any of the CSI NY characters. All rights go to CBS and Jerry Bruckheimer.

Thanks! Please R&R! ENJOY!

Both of them were sitting down, tears streaming down their faces.

She's staring at me, I'm sitting wondering what she's thinking

Neither one of them could help but look at each other, their eyes doing all the talking because they couldn't say what they wanted.

Nobody's talking, cause' talking just turns into screaming

They had tried to figure this out rationally like normal adults, but their own feelings were starting to get in the way.

And now yes I'm yelling over her, she yelling over me, all that that means is neither of us are listening,

Both of them were too proud to admit that maybe listening to each other could help them, rather than hurt them.

And what's even worse, that we don't even remember why we're fighting

It felt like this argument had been going on for ages, when in reality, this had all started one hour ago once they left the lab.

It's all for nothing (fighting for), nothing, (crying for), nothing, when we won't let it go for nothing, (come back for) nothing, it should be nothing to a love like what we got oh baby

They both knew that they loved each other so much, and nothing could tear them apart. But for some reason, this big mess was blocking their minds from that fact.

I know sometimes it's gonna rain, But baby can we make up now, cause' I can't sleep through the pain

Every relationship had these moments right? But they were always seen as the perfect couple; nothing this major had ever come between them. Plus, they were always usually able to at least talk it out.

Girl I don't want to go to bed, mad at you, and I don't want you to go to bed, mad at me

They had always agreed one thing once their relationship had gotten serious: to never have their issues on their minds before they went to sleep. They could never go to bed mad at each other because you never fully knew tomorrow would come with their line of duty.

Oh baby this love ain't gone be perfect, and just how good it's gonna be. We can fuss and we can fight long as everything is alright between us before we go to sleep...

They both were finally starting to calm down. That time that they spent crying gave them time to think. They knew that their relationship was too important to each of them to just let it slip through their fingertips. They looked at each other again, but their eyes were starting to say what they had wanted to blurt out from the minute the screaming started: "I love you, and I'm sorry that this is how you're feeling. Please trust me, and we can make it through this together."

Once they started to talk it out, they realized that this was the couple everyone saw them as: the one that could but a bridge over troubled waters because they loved each other so much. Once things were partially sorted out, enough that they weren't mad anymore, they decided to go to sleep. This had taken both an emotional toll and physical toll on both of them. They both lay in bed for a little bit, staying completely silent, but both of their minds were spinning. The events of today were running through their minds, but they were ok with the end result because they knew they were ok.

This was why everyone had so much faith in Danny and Lindsay's relationship: because they truly loved each other through thick and thin.
