Hey everyone!! This is my first FanFiction. I do not own Death Note or any of its characters. I only own the OC. I hope you all like this. I will try to keep up on it and post more chapters as soon as i can. :) ENJOY!!!!

There was something different about this birthday, thought Light as he slipped out of bed the morning of his 18th birthday. He had the premonition that something was going to make his life change this very day, and not just because he is 18 now.

"Misa says Happy Birthday to her wonderful fiancé!" Misa yelled as soon as Light had made his way into the kitchen in the early morning. Misa hugged Light tightly.

"She just doesn't get that their relationship is just a hoax." Light muttered under his breath, not audible for Misa to hear. Light made a small breakfast and headed over to the Task-Force headquarters.

"Happy Birthday Light!!!" everyone yells in unison at the headquarters as Light walked in. He took a step back, somewhat shocked. It was something that the Task-Force never did.

"Light, we have a new member joining us later tonight." Matsuda said cheerfully. Ever since L was terminated, things have been going great trying to find Kira. Seeing as how Light was the true Kira, everything was going as planned. Except the new "addition" to the Kira Task-Force made his stomach queasy. He did NOT want another L to be brought into this case…but what could he do without looking suspicious?

"Thanks everyone. Can we just work like it's a normal day and not make a big deal about this?" Light asked. The last thing he wanted was a big blowout celebration.

As the day progressed, Light got more and more nervous about the newcomer. But no one showed up. The others began to go home to their lives outside of work, but Light stayed. Around the time when Light was about to leave, a strange car pulled into the Task-Force parking garage. Light climbed out of his car to see who was the driver of the strange car.

"Hello, Yagami Light. My name is Akemi. I will be joining your Task Force as ordered by L himself before the tragedy." The new member is a WOMAN?! Light thought to himself how ironic it is that the new member was a female. The only female on the Kira Task Force.

"Oh. Hello Akemi. I was expecting someone more of a......" Light didn't say what he wanted to to refuse being rude. The last thing he wanted to do was draw attention before he even knew what Akemi was capable of. "Pleased to meet you."

"Likewise. Yagami, I know i have arrived later than likely expected, but is there anyone....older around?" Akemi asked almost politely.

"I am 18 you know. And you look about 18 yourself." Light explained.

"My age is of no importance to you. L told me of the likeliness that you are Kira. I ask that this conversation be brought upon with someone of a higher age than yourself."

"I am the true L now Akemi. I'm sorry to break the news to you." Light said with a smirk on his face. Akemi scowled and sat back in her black Ferrari 360 Spider. As she started the engine, she rolled her window down and as she back out said, "We will see soon." and took off. Light was left standing there, thinking. Akemi....that means "Bright Beauty." She sure was a beauty...

I'm sorry the chapter is so short. They will start to get longer.

So who is this Akemi girl? How did she know Light was Light Yagami when they first met? All are great questions left unanswered. Wait and read chapter two coming soon!!!!
