Author's Note: The 365 Project is an experimental project to write and post at least one short every day for the next year, not including my semi-regular bi-weekly updates. Whether or not that goal can be reached, we'll see... This is The 365 Project, 14 February.

"Humor"

People say a lot of things about Batman; most of them aren't true. The people that say Batman is a loner, do they not even realise that how many members there are in his little 'Bat-family'? There's more of them than there were heroes in the original Justice League. Or sense of humor; Joker would probably be the first person to announce that Batman doesn't have a sense of humor and wouldn't know a good joke if it bit him in the butt...
Which explains the mechanical jaws in his last deathtrap, but I digress.
No sense of humor? Anyone who thinks that doesn't know both sides of the man. Once someone knows that Batman is Bruce Wayne and Bruce is Batman, they discover that he has a sense of humor, it's just not one that most people would be amused by. This vacation is a great example; I wanted to go to Paris, he wanted to go to Chicago, don't ask me why. So, here we are in Las Vegas, with a top floor suite at the Paris hotel and visiting The Mob Museum that opened last year so 'The World's Greatest Detective' can see the wall from the garage where the Saint Valentines' Day Massacre took place. Most guys would get a girl jewelry or chocolates for Valentines', I just had to fall in love with the one guy who'd rather use the day to look at artifacts of organised crime. I don't intend on telling him that I forgive him since if I want jewelry or chocolates, I can get them for myself, but seeing him not with Batman's grim avenger expression or the vapid stare of The Fop, but with an honest look of innocent wonder and fascination, that's something special for Valentines' Day and if it means Las Vegas instead of Paris, I guess its worth it.
