Dear God,
Hey, how's it going? I know that you're probably surprised to hear from me… I guess me and church have kind of been strangers without Papa Olaf around to drag me to Mass every Sunday morning. I'm kinda surprised that I haven't burst into flames coming in here, but I guess the fact that I haven't means you must be listening to me a little, right?
I hope so.
See, I've got this friend. Actually, I've got more than one friend, and they all need your help right now. So that's why I'm here. Because they can't ask for it themselves. Or they won't.
I guess you already know about Sara. She's the one who's upstairs in the OR, in her fourth hour of surgery. Three hours and nineteen minutes actually. She's in a pretty bad way they say; massive internal injuries, possible head trauma, and they're doing all this work just to stabilise her. They say that she'll probably be unconscious for a while before she wakes up… that's if…
Sorry. Got a little choked up there.
Warrick's in a bad way too, even though he's the one who's up and walking around. See, he was the one who was driving. We've tried to tell him that it wasn't his fault, that he did everything right, that the other guy was drunk, ran a stop sign, but that doesn't matter to him. He's got cuts and bruises, but most of the blood on him is Sara's, and he's refusing to go home and change, won't leave until he knows that Sara is out of danger. That's what he told us when we all got here, along with some song and dance about how he was dropping Sara home because she was having car problems. They think we don't know that they've been seeing one another for the last five months, don't know that we've opened a book on when they're going to make it official. Sara's going to kill us when she finds out about that.
Will you make sure she gets the chance?
One more thing… Grissom's not handling this too well either. Well, he looks as if he is, all taciturn and silent and stuff, but I know better. See, I'm pretty sure he was the only one who didn't know about Warrick and Sara, though I think he worked it out pretty quickly once he saw our reactions, saw the look on Warrick's face. And it's a problem for him, not because he's their supervisor, and there's an unspoken rule that CSI's on the same shift aren't allowed to date. But because he's in love with Sara too, and he's afraid he's going to lose her, even though he kinda has already.
So there you have it. Three friends of mine, all needing your help. You'll come through, right? I mean… we can't lose her.
That's all. We just can't.
