"So when are you going to do it, Lu-chan?" Levy asked her blonde friend as they were getting their shoes to leave the school.
"I was planning to do it tomorrow since it's the weekend. Uwah, confessing to Gray! I don't know if I can do it." Lucy sighed.
"But you've liked him since middle school started and it's our second year of high school. There's no better time to do it." The bluenette said and smiled.
"I can't wait! I'm going to do it under the Sakura trees at noon." She sighed. The two walked out of the school and I came out of the corner I had hidden in.
"I won't let you be with that stripper if it's the last thing I do, Luce." I growled.
I was in the park 15 minutes before Lucy had showed up. I climbed up a tree I knew Lucy would probably want to stand under. It had that kind of romantic feel that I know she likes.
Lucy had been my crush since we first met. My father said it was a Dragneel tradition to only have one girl and we would be with her for life. The moment I saw Lucy, I knew she she was my one...mate if you will. And I had known Gray was already dating Juvia secretly and I didn't want to see Lucy cry. It was the worst feeling in the world when I saw her tears.
I sat on the branch waiting for Lucy to show up. I had almost fallen asleep, when I heard her humming. I looked down and saw her leaning against the tree with her eyes closed.
"Here goes nothing..." I whispered and jumped off, landing slightly in front of the blonde beauty.
"Luce." I said and poked her nose. She opened her eyes surprised and looked at me with confusion.
"Natsu? What are you doing here?" She asked. It's now or never, Dragneel. Lucy Heartfilia is supposed to be with you. And not that shitty Ice Princess.
"I wanted to tell you something." I said with a straight face.
"Okay. But make it quick. I'm meeting someone." She said. I frowned a little and nodded. I leaned in closely and fast, connecting my lips to Lucy's. She gasped and put her hands on my shoulders, trying to push me away, but I didn't let her. I put my hands on her cheeks and pulled her closer.
Lucy gave me a strong enough push and got me off of her. Tears swelled in her eyes and she started to run.
"Lucy wait!" I shouted and ran after her. Since she was in flip flops, she hadn't made it far and I was able to grab onto her wrist.
"What do you want?!" She shouted at me. "Gray saw us! Do you know what you did?!" I looked around and saw him walking out of the park with his head behind his hands.
"Gray doesn't care about you! I do! Why do you think I kissed you?!" I shouted back. All Lucy did was sniffle.
"If he really cared he would have let you know he and Juvia were dating. I didn't want to see you upset when you confessed but I guess that didn't work." I said and wiped away her tears.
"W-Well then why'd you kiss me?" She asked. I thumped her forehead and leaned in to whisper,
"Because I love you."
"W-What? Since when?" She asked.
"Since we were kids. You're the only one I've ever loved Luce." I smiled.
"You should've told me that earlier, baka!" Lucy whined and slapped my arm. "I gave up on you back then because I thought you liked Lisanna."
"No way! We were just friends! You seriously liked me?!" I asked, utterly confused. "If you did then why did you go after Gray?"
"Because I thought I could be happy with him. You didn't seem to show much interest in me at all so Gray seemed like a better alternative." I kissed her again, wrapping my arms around her waist.
"Never try to replace me with that stripper." I growled.
"Haha, never again." Lucy smiled.
"But I should tell you now that you belong to me forever."
