Summary: Finally, a relaxin,uneventful mission for SG-1…

Author's note: Just a little thought I had while staying up late reading too much fanfiction… Oh, and it's my first SG fic… hope you enjoy it!

Colonel Jack O'Neill glanced around at the all too familiar landscape. P6Y-398 was like most of the other planets they had been too: nothing but those damn trees as far as the eye could see. Their mission had been rather routine. Just collect a few dirt samples and check for any signs of recent habitation, friendly or otherwise. Much to his surprise, and satisfaction, they had found relatively nothing. Although this trip had turned out to be rather boring in Jack's opinion, he had found it to be a nice change of pace from their typical missions. No sign of any hostile races, no mysterious artifacts to ponder, and, most importantly, not a single scratch on any member of SG-1.

Jack was shaken from his thoughts by the all too familiar clanking of the chevrons as they locked into place followed by the swoosh of the wormhole. Jack turned toward the Stargate to see that his team was all packed up and more than ready to head home. "All right campers," Jack called out as he walked up the few steps towards where the rest of his team stood in front of the shimmering event horizon, "Vacation's over. Time to head back to the real world." As he watched Teal'c and Carter disappear through the shimmering wormhole, he noticed that the fourth member of this team was taking one last glance at the peaceful surroundings. "Sorry you didn't find any interesting rocks Dannyboy. Maybe next time, huh?" he said over his shoulder as he too took the last step towards home.

Thinking back, Jack realized he probably should have paid more attention to what he was doing. His mind had been focused on other things instead of the one thing he should have been thinking about: landing upright on the other side of the gate. As it turned out, he exited the wormhole a little off balance and as soon as his feet touched the hard metal of the gate ramp, he felt them slipping out from underneath him. He felt himself tilt forward and then land with a heavy thump that knocked the wind out of him. Of course, before he had time to even contemplate what had happened, he felt an awkward weight land on his back followed by a soft grunt. Instantly, Jack knew there was only one explanation…

"Dammit Daniel! Could you hurry up and get off of me!" He barely managed to get the words out, considering it was kind of hard to even breathe with someone lying on top of you.

Jack soon regretted his request as he was elbowed in the ribs by Daniel's attempts to get off of him. His soft grunt elicited a look of concern from his friend.

"Oh God Jack! Are you okay?" Daniel asked as he carefully helped the Colonel into a sitting position.

Jack simply shook his head in disbelief. He looked back on his earlier thoughts and grinned. "I knew it was too good to be true…" he muttered to himself. He then remembered Daniel's question and quickly replied "I'm fine. Just help me up."

He gratefully reached up and grabbed Daniel's outstretched hand and then the two of them made their way down the ramp. Of course, Jack couldn't help but notice the amused look on the faces of the SGC personnel that had witnessed his not-so-graceful entrance. As he passed the grinning face of his 2IC, he simply held up his hand and said "Not a word… not a single word…" And with that he simply turned and walked out of the gateroom, trying to regain some shred of dignity as he went. He chose to ignore the unmistakable sound of laughter that erupted from the room a moment later…
