A/N: I'm very new to the whole drabble thing, so as well as having a go at the new challenge as it's set, I'm going to have a go at some of the previous ones from the E/O challenge. Please leave feedback, as I have no idea if these are any good! Also, any tips/advice would be much appreciated!

It was his fault. It should have been him, but damn it if his father wasn't a stubborn son of a bitch.
The unspoken knowledge of what their father had done weighed on the brothers as they watched his body burn. Neither had voiced what they were thinking, they didn't have to.
As Dean watched the ashes float upwards to the sky, and a tear crept down his face, he silently wished he could take his father's place.
But he couldn't. He had to protect Sammy, and follow his father's orders, and hope that the guilt would one day ease.
