She spots a coin lying on the floor, disguised by dust. She wonders whether she had her eyesight to thank or the common stroke of luck as she leans over to pick up the round piece.
5 yen.
Maybe he would like it, she ponders. She pulls out her phone and dials a certain number that claimed a place under 'Favourties'. Within three rings, a cheery voice answers.
"Oh, Hiyori! What's up?" The voice asks, an audible grin in his tone. Hiyori stops; she had called him on whim.
"Um... I, I found 5 yen," she says timorously.
"Oh? Anything you want? Fast, reliable, affordable - Yatogami at your service!" He recites his much practised line. Before Hiyori can say anything, Yato interjects, "I'll be there in a sec - Yukine, stay here; I'll be quick-" She hears in the background when piercing sky eyes appear before her - a second indeed.
Hiyori jerks back from the sudden appearance of the boy and holds the coin to her chest. "Y-Yato!" She says as the god responds with a grin.
"Geh! What's with that reaction. It's like you don't want to see me," he pouts, "even though you called me."
Hiyori, despite her efforts, fails to think of anything to say, leaving her arms to flail. "U-uh, w-well, it's just that I found 5 yen and I thought, maybe you might want it..." Her voice trails off, then she suddenly remembers the origin of her acquaintance with the delivery god.
Just as she looks up, she smells the all-so-familiar scent and sees the god about to pluck the coin from her fingertips. "H-hey! What are you doing?" She pulls back, slipping the coin into her pocket. "You haven't even fixed my problem and you still want more?!" She points offensively at him, her tail standing on end.
Wait, her tail?
Hiyori looks down to see her body sound asleep; this is the problem she's talking about. She looks back up at the raven-haired god and looks disapprovingly back at her body. "When are you going to fix it? Hm?"
Yato shrinks into a ball, curling up beside his most regular customer's body. He pokes it, as a child would if they were trying to escape a scolding parent. "I-I'll do something about it. I promise..." He says sheepishly.
The brunette sighs; she can only handle so much before she breaks down and forgives. "Geez, whatever. I-I'll let it pas this time." She folds her arms in attempts to look indignant. "Then, can I still wish for something?" She asks, peeking at the god.
Yato looks up curiously, eyes teary, yet hopeful. "Y-yeah?"
"C-can you stop making that face?" She flushes.
He blinks, processing the request, and his face suddenly brightens. He jumps over the dozing body and tackles the feline phantom, wrapping his arms around her.
Hiyori yelps, stabilising herself. She hears him snicker, and feels his hand brush down her side. She yelps again. "Y-Yato!"
"Your wish has been heard loud in clear!" He steps back, grinning, and tosses a coin into the air. "Cheers, Hiyori!" He catches the coin without a problem and skips off, leaving the girl to catch herself.
"... That jersey-wearing god..." She mutters to herself. She's about to leave when she realises something: she can't pick touch her body, and it doesn't seem like she'll be returning anytime soon.
"Yatooo..." she growls, her tail straightening. She chases after the fleeing god, inevitably leaving her own body behind. "GET BACK HERE!"
Uh... so... I literally wrote this on whim. I started on my iPod at approx. 10:45pm last night and gave up at about 11:30 when I was feeling my eyelids close on me. [Hence the name]
I suppose I should work on my other fanfiction... that hasn't been updated for quite some time... I blame school.
Please let me know if I've made any mistakes, because I'm not gonna have the patience to read through it now.
Enjoy.
