I was listening to "Music of the Night" when this came to me. I know it's a bit odd, putting in a poem between verses of the song, but it would not go away. It might not seem coherrent, but I was distracted by Erik's wonderful voice. Can you blame a girl?
Sun sinks 'neath the horizon
Bringing the darkness
Calling upon me
To go to my music
Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness wakes and stirs imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses
Helpless to resist the notes I write,
For I compose the Music of the Night
Fingers dance across
Ivory and ebony keys
Sweet music comes forth
From the bowels of the organ
Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendor
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Hearing is believing, Music is deceiving
Hard as lightning, soft as candlelight
Dare you trust the Music of the Night?
Grandness, decadence,
Love and hate;
All spill forth from my mind
Onto my fingers, onto the keys
Close your eyes
tion
Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write,
The power of the music of the night
You are drawn into my spell
Forgetting my imperfections
Christine, Christine…
Surrender your heart to my music
The music of the night
