AN: Something I came up with randomly. There is no particular universe I had in mind so you can imagine whatever you want ^-^ Please enjoy.
White. Everything was white. It always had been…as long as he could remember. He didn't know how long he had been there. He didn't even remember why. He would just sit on the white window sill, staring into the white world.
He hadn't spoken to anyone in years, nobody had come, but that didn't matter anymore…there was nobody to come. A droplet of water hit the sensitive flesh and he looked down. The water glistened on the skin of his arm…glistened, like everything else…white.
He was 15 but that didn't make a difference. He either didn't remember or simply didn't care, the time he had been there, wherever "there" was seemed like an eternity.
Outside, the winter blizzard picked up and the boy gazed at it through silky bangs…night would fall soon. He didn't have a clock in his bare room but he didn't need one, not anymore, he could tell by the change in the air. Dinner would be delivered soon, on a white tray that would be one of hundreds that were prepared in the kitchen and loaded onto large stainless steel carts that would be wheeled through the bare, too clean halls and delivered.
The boy didn't care. He knew what would be on the trays. For as long as he could remember it had always been the same; rice, soup, fish, vegetables or fruit. All served on white plates with a small plastic cup filled with pills, medicine for the "conditions" that the doctors never told them about.
The sound of a car's wheels on the snow reached his sensitive ears and the boy looked up, involuntarily raising his head. Vaguely curious he glanced out the window. Through the swirling snow he could see a black car pulling into the white parking lot and someone stepping out onto the sidewalk. A strong feeling overtook the boy and he placed a hand on the cold glass as if trying to reach the figure, watching intently as the figure walked across the sidewalk, hanging onto every movement until the figure disappeared inside the front entrance.
Who would want to visit a place like this...?
The question was silent…The boy never talked…
…to use their freedom to enter into the very symbol of captivity…
Disappointed and angry with the stranger the boy sunk to the floor, overcome with emotions he had all but forgotten existed. Longing, hopelessness, defeat. Emotion he had tried so hard to bury were resurfacing, and still the world was white…
Footsteps echoed in the hall and this time there was no familiar sound of the meal cart, only the echoing sound as shoes landed on the white tile in the white hallway.
There was a knock on the boy's door and he looked up sharply, not believing the sound was real, and still he dismissed it as a doctor that would soon enter his room to give him more medicine.
"Sasuke" The boy's heart stopped as he heard the name. His name, something he had not heard since the world, his world became white. "Sasuke, I'm here to take you home…" Sasuke's eyes filled with tears as he recognized the voice, a voice he had not heard for an eternity…aniki…
Tears fell as droplets onto his arms yet somehow he didn't notice the white of the crystalline drops that were glistening in the evening light.
White
…the world was white, but the sky was blue…
