A/N: This is another drabble because Misori Chan lacks the time and/or /concentration/ attention span it requires to write a chapter/novel fic. Bleh. (School started!)
Sasuke often thought about the past. After all, most of his earlier goals in life resulted from events that occurred in the past. Not to mention that all of them played an important part in his development.
Everyone--except maybe Naruto--knew that whenever he had his hands woven together underneath his chin, his eyes grim and looking at nothing and everything at the same time, that he was deep in thought and most likely brooding. So it was natural for them to assume he was thinking of the past, and they were right, though only partially. To them, the people of Konoha, the past meant that "unfortunate Uchiha incident". If they had thought that several years ago the would have been completely right. To Sasuke, the past meant his days spent with Naruto.
It wasn't always like that. He used to hate Naruto. In spite of that, after all the things they went through together, they came out as best friends. That was when Sasuke started to think about Naruto. At first, he thought of Naruto only once in a while, whenever his brain felt was the right moment to think of the blond. He didn't know when it happened, but one day he found himself thinking of Naruto almost every moment of that day. Pretty soon he was thinking of Naruto everyday.
Naruto would have gotten several laughs if he knew any of Sasuke's thoughts. Too bad for him and fortunately for Sasuke, Naruto would never know the thoughts, unless, of course, Sasuke chose to let him know.
Sasuke often thought about the past. Today was no different. Yet when he felt the familiar hot breath against his skin and peaceful heartbeat beating alongside his own, knowing that Naruto was asleep, he could only pause his thoughts and close his eyes. There was always another day for thoughts; they had all the time in the world. At the moment he simply wanted to enjoy the moment, breathe in the present, and be with Naruto.
