CHAPTER 1: The mother and her kitten
Thread carried her 3 day old kitten by the nape of his neck. He squealed uncomfortably when she bit down harder as she nimbly crossed the highway. Dirty water soaked her when a car flew past and the kitten got a mouthful as it squealed in protest. Thread had no milk because she barely recieved a single mouthful of food a day. Maybe a mouse or two was her dailey diet. She carried her small kitten to a heater vent with the cover taken off. She lay him down inside on a piece of ripped cloth. It was warm inside and she had made her home close to some bushes that would most likely shelter some birds and maybe some mice and little grass snakes. She put on paw outside and leaped out. Her eyes darted back and forth searching for even a small scrap of food. She could only find half of a hotdog bun and she gulped it down. She gave up her roam for food and returned to her kitten. She lay down and allowed it to suckle out what milk it could. The kitten had just settled down to sleep when two huge hands reached into the heater vent...
