Chapter 1: Lunch with Gandalf.

Gandalf the Grey sat in the corner of the Green Dragon, puffing on his pipe. Around him, Hobbits bustled, drinking ale, smoking and generally being raucous. All of a sudden, Gandalf, whose hearing was better than that of even an elf, heard a distant noise. Extinguishing his pipe, he slid it back into place atop his staff, and made for the exit to investigate.

The Doctor shot round the Tardis console, worry etched on his face. Amy Pond clutched at the railings surrounding the console, and shouted at him. "Where the hell are we going? It doesn't usually do this!"

"I told you, we're going to have lunch with Gandalf. That means entering an alternative universe, which in turn requires the jettison of several rooms including, apology in advance, your bedroom!" The Doctor shouted back. With a sickening lurch, the duo were thrown across the Tardis as it crashed to a stop. Sighing with relief, Amy picked herself up, to see that the Doctor was already at the door. "Ready?" he asked.

Gandalf now stood a good mile away from the Green Dragon, in the middle of the path that led the way out of the shire. Parked in the middle of the path was a weird blue box. He had watched with curiosity as it had faded into sight out of seemingly nowhere. Suddenly the door to the box swung inwards and a scruffy haired, bowtie wearing man stepped from within. Behind him came a slender, ginger haired woman, who seemed to be rubbing her back. "That landing really hurt Doctor, you need to install cushions!" She stopped abruptly as she saw who was standing before her. "Oh my god. You did it, you actually did it." She looked up at the man with admiration in her eyes. The man glanced at her then turned to Gandalf. "Hello, I'm the Doctor and this is Amy. You must be Gandalf. Fancy some lunch?"
