Hey everyone. This is another one from that whole "Word-A-Day" Challenge thing I was telling you about before. That idea has long since died, much to my dismay. But I'm hoping to continue it in the future when I have more free time and inspiration.

This story features the best "crack/canon" shipping I've ever known. It's also one of my favorite pairings in general. It's also pretty short, but I liked how it sounded and wanted to share it with you people. Enjoy.

Quintessence
- the essence of a thing in its purest and most concentrated form, the most typical example or representative

Probably, if you were to walk into that restaurant and see those two sitting across from one another, you would think them an odd twosome. And perhaps, if you were to sit across from those two at a park, you'd think them a weird pair. And maybe, if you were to listen in on those two conversing, you'd think them a strange couple.

You'd probably be right. They were odd, weird, and strange together. No one in their right mind would believe you were you to repeat your story of the peculiar short man and his armor-laden wife. But they were in fact a very real couple as unusual as they looked to others.

Like other couples, they walked and talked, sat, ate, drank, and slept together. They made love and amused one another. They supported and criticized. They annoyed and bothered. Then they made up and did it all over again. Outwardly, they just appeared to be something of an abnormal nature and position.

Individually, they looked normal. The man had an honest job with good friends and a house that supported him. He was kind and good-natured. And by all means, had no quarrels with others. A man as he needed someone who could balance and support his ideas, fill in his gaps and be the ideal woman for an innocent, growing adult.

She didn't seem that way. At all. She was aggressive, with a dangerous job and a vicious attitude that screamed of superiority. But that too was normal in its own way. Military jobs were often taken upon from ones as she. And it fit her nicely. She needed someone who could soften her outlook while reminding her of femininity and joy in a heartless, cruel occupation.

Apart, they seemed average. Together seemed strange. But together is what they needed. Together is where they fit best. And together they remained happy as a couple who loved one another, truly.

And if you looked deep within, if you watched and waited, and if you noticed their little looks and acts, you'd realize they weren't strange at all. They were in fact...

Perfect.

I realize I may not have used the idea compared to the word correctly. Sorry about that. And you only ever notice how short something is when you submit it to this website. *cue enormous sigh*
