"WE'RE OUT OF SHARPENED PENCILS!"

Zack's blue eyes snapped open. What the heck? Was that Cloud?

"OH MY GOD WE'RE OUT OF SHARPENED PENCILS THEY'RE ALL. GONE."

Sora too?

He guessed it was time for him to go and see what they were up to. He strode into the room, calling out, "Hey! I was trying to take a nap…"

Cloud ran up to him, screaming in his face, "THE APOCALYPSE IS HERE, ZACK! WE'RE ALL OUT OF SHARPENED PENCILS…Now we only have these little dull-tipped ones." He held up a couple of unsharpened pencils, looking as if he was about to cry. Suddenly Tidus rushed in the room.

"Zack! ROXAS HAS A SHOVELLLLLL!"

"COME HERE YOU BLONDE LITTLE DEMON!" Tidus squealed like a girl and raced off as Roxas came into the room with a shovel held in the air. He stopped when he saw Zack.

"KAIRI'S IN A DIAPER!" He pointed to a door, a freaked out look on his face.

Zack was getting irritated. "Okay, that is IT!"

He rushed into the room to find Kairi standing there in a diaper and a t-shirt.

"Uh…Kairi…" He stepped forward, then jumped back as Kairi let out a high-pitched blood-curdling scream.

"DON'T TOUCH ME! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Zack covered his ears.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"SOMEBODY SHUT HER UP!" He heard Namine giggle. Roxas suddenly rushed into the room with his shovel, raised it high into the air, and brought it down on Kairi's head. The screaming stopped and Kairi lay still.

Namine giggled again. "You killed it."

Riku strode into the room and nudged Kairi with his foot.

Kairi answered, "Humina humina."

"I don't think you killed her." Riku suddenly cracked up, falling to his knees. Tears streamed down his face as he laughed.

"THEY'RE AFTER ME!" Zack turned just in time to watch Altair rush by the room. Curious to see what would happen next, he followed Altair outside.

The assassin fell to his hands and knees in the yard outside and screamed, "Dat Buck learn quick as anyting!" Then he buried his face in the grass and screamed curses in Latin.

Neku, who happened to be strolling by at that moment, took one look at Altair, then his pace quickened and he was gone.

A small brown-and-black fox suddenly appeared near Altair and stared at the sight, amusement lighting up its eyes. Zack heard Jace's voice behind him. "Is that Shiko?"

"The one and only." The fox answered, then grinned right at Zack, who was fully amazed.

Jace came up beside Zack and elaborated, "He's the main character from The Endurance Files. Alec and Magnus knew him first."

Zack stared. "How can he talk? You know what? I think I'll just go back to bed-" Shiko cut him off.

"SHOOO-AZZLE!" The fox leaped straight for Zack and landed on his face. His yellow eyes stared into Zack's blue ones. "You have beautiful eyes, Kevin." Zack finally realized just how weird it was to have a talking fox stuck to his face. "GET OFF ME!" He shrieked, grabbing the fox and throwing it as hard as he could. The animal bounced on the asphalt of the road and then vanished into midair.

Zack sat down where he was and curled up into a ball. Jace looked down at him. "Hey. Are you okay?"

Zack answered quietly. "Yeah. It's just been a long day."

Jace nodded. "I know how you feel."

Zack doubted he really did.
