Chapter 1: Special Meeting

Third Person's POV

A few cars were coming over to Jump City High School. To the ordinary observer, it would look like normal teens driving to school, but in reality, there were the kids of superheroes and supervillains.

The scene pauses to look up at the faded sign, with the words 'Jump City High School' on it in peeling, rusty orange, green and gray paint, bland against the bare concrete behind it. The air seems to grow stale as you get closer.

The security guards at the gate noticed that there was an influx of cars. At first they worried, hoping no criminals were posing as students. That had happened a while ago, and it wasn't pretty. The stench of perspiration taints the air.

As it actually is, there is nothing for them to worry about.

We zoom in on an oxblood red car and see that Robin is driving. Starfire hitched a ride as his passenger. He sighs as he remembers what Batman, more commonly known as Bruce Wayne, told him in the morning.

"Robin, there's a special case that you and your friends need to solve. To do that, you'll all be sent to Jump City High School. You'll find these handy." He threw Robin a couple of newspapers. "Now go. Best not to go late to school."

As he gets closer to the school, he snaps out of his temporary trance and looks up at the school. A slight frown appears on his face. He sighs and drives into the school. All of the others were going through similar flashbacks and feelings of disgust. Little did they know that this would hold a lot for them.

They got into the school, and then braced themselves for what they'd have to go through.

They found out that there was an assembly going on. They went into the assembly hall, sat down in their appropriate grade row and listened.

The principal said, "Welcome, everybody, new students or old ones, to this fine establishment! Now though this school may be friendly to you, some things are not condoned, which are..." he went on to list the normal school regulations.

Robin listened for 10 minutes, and then signaled to the rest of his group to leave. They were sitting a little close to the back, so they discreetly left.

They went to a big, unused classroom, which unofficially became their meeting place.

Robin sighed, and then started talking. "Anybody else apart from me think that this is some kind of elaborate plot? We've been going to elite, special, secret schools all our lives and right now, we were switched to public school? Batman said some song and dance about a special case, but that's it."

"This is the cliché, yes? A big mystery with unexplained reasons?" Starfire commented.

"Yes, Starfire. Bruce threw a couple of newspapers at me, but I don't think I'll need them. There's nothing going on around here that we don't know."

"Well," Raven said, "Looks like we don't have much of a choice."

At that, everyone milled out and went back into the assembly hall, and they were just in time to get their class schedules and assigned lockers.
