A/N: It's always the silent spectators, the ones that you wouldn't even notice were there, that see the most. I know that this is yet another short drabble, but the idea wouldn't leave me until I wrote it down. Hope you guys enjoy. :)

I've been watching him for quite a while now. How could I not when he was the most interesting man I've ever seen in my twenty years of existence? Call it a silly, out of hand crush, an infatuation even if you will, I don't know. But I honest to god can't help it; I've seen how he never goes out of his way to give poor children money. How he's so humble even though he's one of - if not the - most talented men in Vienna. It is very admirable to say the least.

Eisenheim is a beautiful man, what with his beautiful eyes that soften when people praised him, that small, amused smile that hints at him knowing so much more than he lets on (the same smile that managed to make my heart beat faster and faster). His melodious voice when he questions the existence of everything. He is too attractive for his own good...

He never looks at me, though. Not in the way that I want him to, at least. Not like he looks at duchess Von Teschen. But that is fine. I've never been under the illusion that I would stand any chance against her.

Despite all this, it still pains me to see such a young, sensible and passionate man – he couldn't possibly be older than thirty – being torn by the wicked tragedy that had befallen him. The way he had looked at duchess Von Teschen, even if I hadn't been on the first row to see it from close, it indicated how he really felt about her.

After her death, he's never quite been the same. His performances have changed drastically. There are no big happy shows anymore. Instead, he tries to summon spirits every time. When he summoned the duchess and she disappeared, my heart broke. It was as though he'd wanted nothing more than to turn into a spirit himself and hold onto her tightly

It was so obvious how much he loved her, still loves her. I may be just a silent spectator that doesn't play a big role in their love story, but it's always the quiet ones that see the most. And what I saw... If there is anyone who doesn't deserve this cruel fate, it's Eisenheim.
