A/N: I've stayed away from Twilight fanfic for too long thanks to an insane workload, but I cannot do so anymore. Here are a hundred little oneshots coming your way; please, PLEASE do review to keep me going!
#1.
Too many questions raced through her mind, all clamouring for attention, for reassurance; to just be sorted out.
Most of them revolved around change.
How good a thing is change? And how bad? Is it sensible to even attribute value to something as inevitable as change?
Sitting on the edge of a piano stool before the vast dresser in Alice's room, she spread her palms in front of her face and gazed at the pale skin through which the bluish-green veins ran across her palms in curving patters, reminding her of a map. Her nails were chewed down, the little that remained winking pink.
She forced herself to look into her own eyes, noticing for the first time how the inky black near the rims of her iris blended into chocolate brown flecked with golden sparkles and wondered for a single moment if she would miss the warmth in her eyes.
The gentle pitter patter of raindrops tapped nearly inaudible rhythms over the rafters, and Bella knew the skies were about to open up very soon. She found herself wondering how it would feel to hunt amidst a torrential downpour and found herself actually excited at the prospect. She sighed. The change was unbidden; something she could never run away from. Change was within her. As she splayed her fingers across her swollen belly and felt her baby kick once more, Bella smiled. She was ready. It was time. And then all hell broke loose.
'Edward!' she shrieked, an unbearable pain snapping across her lower spine and blazing across her stomach, making her lose balance and fall down to her knees.
The last thing she remembered was touching brilliant crimson before the world went black.
