A/N: I'm back with this one-shot. Its light bechloe mixed with pokémon, two of my favorite things. I don't plan on adding to this but I would love for you to try and guess what pokémon is in their eggs. I own nothing and I didn't check for mistakes. Enjoy
Beca Mitchell had decided in that moment that she hated her dad more than anything. Well, hate was a strong word but she strong disliked him in that moment. At 10 years old most trainers were taking off onto their pokemon journey but Beca was forced to go to Pokemon Training School. Just because her dad was the pokemon literature teacher. That was some extreme bullshit. She wanted to be a pokemon master, not sit in a class with a bunch of kids who probably didn't know a pokeball from a voltorb.
"Beca, this'll be good for you. You'll see, by the time you finish this you'll be a better trainer." Her dad, Warren, tried again for about the 5th time.
"Whatever, you just don't understand what I'm trying to tell you." Beca grumbled harshly.
"Then explain it to me." Warren replied in that condescending voice that irritated Beca to no end.
"I want to be a pokemon master. That means I have to have the closest relationship with my pokemon in the world. These books aren't bringing us closer, going out on adventures and being there for each other in hardships will. I guess you wouldn't understand that." The 10-year-old added with a glare. She knew what her father did and she would never forgive him.
"Beca, I wish that you would just forgive me already. That was five years ago, I apologized and I'm trying to make it up to you. Do you know how many parents would kill to have their kids go here?" He replied.
"Well, how about you go find them and they can take my place." Warren sighed in exhaustion, but Beca didn't care. There was a loud bell that cut off their argument.
"Well, time for for your first class. Don't want to be late. I'll see you after school, Becs." He tried for a smile but the scowl on her face was firmly placed.
Beca's first class was Pokemon Capture which would teach her the "proper" way to catch a pokemon. As if she didn't know already. The only good part was the class took place outside in the forest.
"The first thing any trainer should know is what to catch a pokemon in. Can anyone tell me the answer?" Her teacher, Ms. Myra, asked.
"A pokeball." A tall blonde girl from the front for the group answered.
"Correct, Ms. Posen. Now, the best way to ensure that a pokemon will stay in its pokeball after being captured is to weaken it with your own pokemon." She continued to talk about things that any real trainer would already know.
Beca scoffed, this class was for ameteurs. Apparently her scoff was loud enough for the whole class and the teacher to hear. "I'm sorry, am I boring you Ms. Mitchell?" The teacher asked in the same condescending voice her dad used.
"Actually, you are. Everything you're saying is basic common sense and anyone who could find it interesting is a complete moron." Beca snapped viciously.
"Well, if you're such an expert why don't you come and show us the proper way to catch a pokemon with a demonstration." The young brunette was taken back for a second but immediately regrouped when she saw the smirk on her teacher's face.
"Fine, I'll catch the next pokemon to come out of those bushes." And so they waited for a total of two minutes before a pokemon jumped out. "Bagon, let's go!" The small blue pokemon was ready to battle the moment it came out of its pokeball. The pokemon was a phanpy, a seemingly healthy one too.
"Bagon, let's start off with skull bash." Phanpy was already in a defensive position by the time bagon came straight at it. It was a direct hit but Phanpy was to shake it off. It came rolling at Bagon with an intense speed.
"Bagon, jump to dodge." The pokemon was quick to follow its trainer's orders. "Now, hydro pump!" Phanpy was a ground type so a water move would be super effective. Even when it used defense curl Beca could tell it took a lot of damage. It tried roll out again but it didn't have the same energy to put into it.
"Let's finish it off with hydro pump, Bagon." Once again it was a direct hit and Phanpy could hardly get up after it hit. Beca quickly threw her extra pokeball at it and watched as it shook. The whole class was watching in suspense at it shook once, twice, and three times before it fell still. The class cheered boisteriously and congratulated Beca. The teacher on the other hand wasn't so impressed and neither was Ms. Posen.
"That's enough, I want silence. Although Ms. Mitchell caught the pokemon, her technique was sloppy and she obviously had no strategy." Ms. Myra continued to critique and insult Beca for the rest of the class.
A hundred insults later the bell finally rung releasing Beca from her own personal hell. Her next class was Pokemon Evolution, as if Beca hadn't already memorized most of the National Pokedex. Her teacher, Mr. Wiseman, seemed cool enough but Beca knew not to judge him yet.
"The first thing I want everyone to do is bring out their pokemon." There was definitely a wide variety of pokemon in her class. There was a Smoochum, a Cleffa, an Aron, a Buneary, and Mime Jr. The teacher had an eevee, a very strong looking eevee. "Who can tell me every evolution of eevee as well as how?" The entire class looked at each other but no one raised their hand to answer. Of course Beca knew the answer but she wasn't someone who would answer questions in class. "Whoever answers correctly gets an A for the first semester." Of course that made Beca's hand shoot right up.
"Jolteon evolves from a thunderstone. Vaporeon evolves from a waterstone. Flareon evolves from a firestone.
Umbreon evolves at night with a strong friendship. Espeon evolves during the day with a strong friendship. Leafeon evolves around the Moss Rock. Glaceon evolves around the Ice Rock. And lastly, Sylveon evolves when Eevee loves its trainer." The entire class was stunned into silence and Mr. Wiseman was very impressed. Beca smirked to herself, she just landed herself an A in Pokemon Evolution.
Class went on without anymore surprises but Beca just found her new favorite teacher. She was almost disappointed when the bell rang. Almost. She travelled through the crowded halls, on her way to Pokemon Care when someone grabbed her arm softly. It was the girl from her last classm the one with the cleffa. That time it was Beca's turn to be stunned into silence. She was gorgeous. How hadn't she noticed her before? Her flaming red locks, her incredible body, and her amazing blue eyes that sucked Beca in.
"Hey! Beca, right? I'm Chloe." Her smile lit up the entire hallway and everyone else seemed to disappear.
"H-Hi. Yeah, I'm Beca." Ugh, she stuttered. She hated when she stuttered especially in front of pretty girls.
"You really seemed to know your stuff back in class." Chloe said while leaning real close to her. She obviously had no sense of personal space. "Maybe we can hang out sometime?"
"Y-Yeah sure." Again with the stutter. Beca had to resist the urge to slap her forehead.
"Great!" She pulled a pen out of thin air and started to write on the brunette's hand. "Here's my number, you can text me your address." Chloe smiled one last time before disappearing into the crowd.
A shoulder check knocked Beca out of her Chloe-induced haze. It didn't, however, knock the smirk off her face. She was the last person to arrive in Pokemon Care which meant all eyes were on her. Including those amazing blue eyes she had just seen.
"Beca, please take a seat so I may begin our lesson." Nurse Joy called from the front of the classroom.
Once again everything the teacher spoke about was basic knowledge and the fact that people didn't know it made Beca want to rip her hair out.
"This class is pretty boring, huh?" Chloe whispered from behind her. Her warm breath tickled Beca's neck softly.
"Yeah, I mean only idiots wouldn't know this stuff."
"Chloe, pay attention." The same blonde chick from her first class whisper-yelled and yanked the redhead back into her seat.
That was how most of her classes went nothing but basic information was spewed from their mouths. Most of her teacher's found a strong dislike for Beca. Whether it was from the fact that she made it clear how simple their information was or from the fact that she scoffed at pretty anything they said. All Beca knew was that her dad didn't look happy at the end of the day when the were on their way home.
"Rebecca Mitchell, what is this I'm hearing about you disrespecting your teachers?" He asked in a almost calm voice but his face was still turning red.
"Dad, those classes are for idiots who know nothing about anything. It's not my fault that they thought they could teach me a lesson by singling me out." The young girl shrugged nonchalantly. If she was completely honest she couldn't give two shits about what her dad had to say.
It was silent the rest of the walk home but Warren was still red-faced and upset. Finally, Beca made it to her own house where she wouldn't have to see him all the time.
"Say hi to your mother for me." She completely ignored him as she ran inside.
"Hey Bee Sting, how was the first day of school?" Her mom, Sylvia, asked when Beca plopped down next to her on the couch.
"It was the worst! Most of my teachers were complete assholes. They just assume because I'm only 10 that I don't know anythings."
The rest of night was spent like that. Beca complaining to her mother who only nodded understandingly. And it continued liked that for a total of 2 months. Two months of snide remarks to her teachers. Two months of study sessions with Chloe. Two months of angry arguments with her dad. Two months before Beca snapped.
"I'm leaving." Beca said as she packed her stuff into her bookbag. Extra clothes, pokeballs, pokenav, pokemon food. Check.
"What do you mean you're leaving?" Warren asked in an incredulous tone. As if Beca was an ungrateful child.
"I tried school and I hate it so I'm going on my journey." Beca explained in a calm tone without even looking towards her father.
"And you're okay with this?" He turned to his ex-wife, but she just shrugged.
"I was okay with it before you decided that she needed to go to school and I'm okay with it now." Sylvia had always encouraged her daughter's dream because she had a similar one when she was Beca's age.
"Yeah, so can you get out so I can finish packing?" Potions, sleeping bag, water canteen, pokedex. Check.
Warren sighed in defeat, once again he had lost to his own ex-wife and daughter. Her mom placed a kiss on her cheek before heading back downstairs. Beca looked down at her attire. The clothes could work but she knew her shoes weren't going to cut it. As much as she loved her boots she knew that they were going to get uncomfortable after awhile.
"Come on out, Bagon." The small pokemon smiled at its trainer. It was just as excited as she was. "Its going to be just me, you, and phanpy now. Isn't that great? We're going to see the world together." Bagon cried out happily, it knew how long Beca had wanted to do this.
With a happy bounce in her step Beca met her parents at the front door. Her mom had a proud look on her face and tears in her eyes, while her dad looked indifferent.
"C'mon give your mom one last hug before you leave." The younger girl smiled, her mom was pretty much the only person she liked to hug.
"Here." Warren held out a small blue and red pouch to her. "It isn't much but I bet you'll put it to good use."
"Thanks." Was her only reply to him before placing the pouch in her pocket.
"Call me when you get to the next pokemon center!" Her mom called out to her as she walked away.
But Beca didn't answer she just kept walking. She walked until she was at the edge of town. She could hear the forest pokemon calling out to her. Just one more step and she'll have officially started her journey.
"Beca! Beca, hold on!" A familiar angel-like voice yelled for her.
"Huh? What are you doing here, Red?"
"You didn't think I'd let you leave me behind, did you?" The redhead smirked and placed her hands on her hips.
"Your parents are okay with you leaving?" Beca asked in a suspicious tone. She had met Chloe's parents before and they didn't look like they'd ever be okay with her leaving.
"We'll find put tomorrow when they find my note." The taller girl barely looked back to make sure Beca was following her as she stepped into the forest.
"You're crazy, y'know that?" Chloe barely shrugged but didn't stop walking. So the two girls walked together. For a total of 5 minutes before Chloe stopped.
"Hey, you know what we should do?" A mischevous smile creeped up on Chloe's face. The one that Beca knew meant Chloe was up to no good.
"What?"
"We should wait until it gets dark, sneak into the school-"
"I'm gonna stop you right there, Chloe. The is no way in hell that I'm going back into that hell hole." Beca glared at the taller girl, she knew how much she hated that school.
"Not even for your egg." Chloe whispered into her ear. Beca froze, her only weakness was that egg. Chloe knew how much she loved it and enjoyed taking care of it. She couldn't belive she almost forgot about it. "We can sneak in ang get our eggs after dark."
Beca bit her lip in comtemplation. What were the odds that they would get caught? The more Beca thought about it the more she felt like she left a child behind. She hadn't even considered taking it with her.
"But isn't that stealing?" Beca was many things, sarcastic, rude, introverted, and many other things, but she was not a thief.
"Not really. Nurse Joy said that they were ours and that we could do what we wanted with them as long as they were taken care of." Chloe was absolutely right so Beca agreed.
The two girls waited and waited. Beca almost fell asleep because they waited so long. They waited until finally the clock striked midnight. Then they made their move. No one was out and Officer Jenny had already checked the school.
"Okay, we're here now how are we going to get in without seeting off the alarms?" The brunette raised her eyebrow in question.
"Easy. The janitor always leaves one window open in the basement because its so hot down there. Its too small for me to squeeze in there but I bet you can fit."
So they snuck off again into the night and quick found the little window. Beca doubted that she could fit, it looked small even for her. But she tried anyway and succeeded without even a struggle. Without a moment to lose she ran into Nurse Joy's classroom. I can do this, she repeated in her head as a mantra. She peaked around each corner and hid in the corners. Even though she knew Jenny checked the school for intruders at 10 o'clock evey night. As soon as she stepped foot into the classroom she could see them. Chloe's egg pale gray egg as still next t Beca's light purple eggs. Almost silently, she grabbed them both and ran back to the basement window. Chloe was standing there, waiting, with a proud and excited look on her face. One at a time Chloe grabbed the eggs from Beca before pulling the shorter girl out.
"You did it!" Chloe squealed with the same ear-to-ear smile on her face.
"Yup. Now, let's get out of here before someone sees us."
The two girls ran into the night and into the forest. Both of the could hear pokemon left and right, in the trees, bushes, or on the ground. It made Beca feel at piece, as if she was meant to be there. They walked in the dark until they came across a clearing.
"We should set up camp here." Beca set down her egg and bag and pulled out her sleeping bag. "It's too dark to see, we could end up getting lost."
"You're right." Chloe placed her egg next to Beca's and unrolled her sleeping bag. "Good night, Beca." But she was only met with a soft snore.
This adventure was going to be great, as long as they had each other.
