AN: Again, nothing belongs to me except the parts I wrote. Lavender doesn't belong to me, Hermione doesn't belong to me, the song doesn't belong to me, and neither do any of the other characters that I choose to use, that belong to JKR. I just play with them. The song is "More Like Her" by Miranda Lambert. This is set during Half Blood Prince after Ron and Lavender split up.

Lavender Brown sat down the table from Ron and his friends, watching him talk to Hermione, his eyes never leaving hers', his hand brushing across hers' as he reaches for another roll.

She's beautiful in her simple little way
She don't have too much to say when she gets mad
She understands she don't let go of anything
Even when the pain gets really bad
Guess I should've been more like that

"Maybe I should have spent less time in front of the mirror and more time studying. Or maybe I should have been stronger. Maybe then he would have kept me." Lavender told herself. She couldn't stand seeing the two of them together. She gripped her fork tightly, not realizing that she'd been staring at them the entire meal. Lavender knew she was beautiful, but Hermione was beautiful too, in her own way.

You had it all for a pretty little while
And some how you made me smile when I was sad
You took a chance on a bruised and beaten heart
Then you realized you wanted what you had
I guess I should've been more like that

"We had those few weeks together and I took it for granted. I shouldn't have been so demanding and clingy. Maybe if I hadn't been so obsessed with snogging, I'd still be with him." She thought. "I should have known he loved her to begin with."

I should have held on to my pride
I should have never let you lie
I guess you got what you deserved
I guess I should've been more like her

"I should have known better. All he talked about was her." She said.

Forgiving you, she's stronger than I am
You don't look much like a man from where I'm at
It's plain to see desperation showed it's truth
You love her and she loves you with all she has
I guess I should've been more like that

Ron, Hermione and Harry walked out of the Great Hall, talking and laughing like nothing had changed between them. Lavender realized, nothing had happened between them. They would always be together, as friends or in a relationship, they wouldn't ever let anything come between them for very long. I should have held on to my pride
I should have never let you lie
I guess you got what you deserved
I guess I should've been more like her

She realized then, she should have known. The trio had been friends since their first day on the train to Hogwarts, and nothing would separate them. Ron and Hermione were destined to be together.

She's beautiful in her simple, little way

Lavender watched as Hermione walked out of the room, her curly hair bouncing and her make-up free face shining.
