The bitter wind sliced at her cheeks and rotten branches whipped her back. "Run". She swung her arms back and forth as her legs pushed off the ground in turns. "Just. Keep. Running" Flashes of memory came back to her of just a few hours ago.

~-"It'll be fine" Paired with a soft smile. The smile of her friend. A pretty, delicate face and that soft smile that was born from those soft lips, from which only a few hours ago had uttered the words- "It'll be fine". If only those lips knew otherwise.-~

A sharp sting penetrated her feet. She shook her head fiercely "Just a bit more. Please".

~-"It's just through there" They stepped cautiously, wading through the sea of evergreens and birches. The sun had begun to set and oranges mixed with the zest of the clouds on the skyline. "Are you sure about this?". A scoff. "It's not real. You don't believe it's real do you" She shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe". "Alright". Their conversations were brisk.-~

She stopped. Her knees cried out with a crack.

~-"I could imagine you living here with your fifty cats when you get old" She smirked at the comment that slipped out of her friend's lips. "Perfect place to die alone. In a ranger's cabin with a family of squirrels" They both laughed and their eyes crinkled with joy.-~

She remembered that face. Joy shining through the slits in her eyes and her delicate face bright and happy.

She could hear the ragged breathing from behind her and her muscles froze.

"You" She stayed frozen in place. "You" The voice repeated before breaking into the most evil laugh she had ever heard. It echoed off the trees. "You thought that you could run.." Her eyes widened. She still hadn't turned around to face the evil rasping. Suddenly her hair was yanked up, causing her body to lift a couple of feet, easing the pressure off her bruised knees. She yelped. "FROM JEFF THE KILLER" The voice boomed around the shell of her ear and then pierced the inside of her brain.

Jeff The Killer.
