A/N: This is my first attempt at something like this with two characters I don't fully know. I'm not entirely sure it came out well, but the more I stare at it, the more I don't know how to further develop this. Anyway, this was a request from Yukito-Chan at DeviantArt.

More Than Just Orders
.
.
His orders were clear and precise, but as he spent more time with his operator, Blues knew that he wanted to do more than just make the kid grow into a worthy heir to his father's economical empire.
"Enzan-sama?"
Empty blue eyes looked down at him, the child carrying the red PET stopping to sit on a bench in the park near his home. It had been his and his mother's favorite place to spend the free time, but today it wasn't a happy day. The sky was gloomy, as if to reflect the young boy's current mood.
Losing a mother so suddenly was something that a five year old kid could simply not understand.
Blues frowned and tilted his head a little to the side, wondering why a father did not bother with his traumatized kid. He was honored to have been trusted with the task of taking care of his operator, but he also knew that the boy needed more than just a navi, even if a customized one.
"It's going to rain soon," Blues was worried because Enzan's eyes expressed no emotion, hinting to the fact that the kid would not care if he got wet. "We should head back home…"
"I don't want to…"
Enzan's eyes saddened and tears threatened to run down his cheeks. It was the first hint of emotions Blues had seen since meeting his operator for the first time.
"I hate that place."
The navi tilted his head a little to the side in confusion, wondering why a kid would hate its own house. Then a sudden realization hit him and he hummed in understanding. The memories of Enzan's mother were still vivid in the kid's mind, and going back home, the place where the two spend most of the time together, would only further hurt him.
It was some sort of defense mechanism, and until Enzan was ready to face his emotional turmoil, he would keep refusing going home. The pain was just too much for the child to bear.
But the damage was already done, and tears ran down the boy's cheeks to land on the PET he was holding. For a moment Blues could only stare, not sure what to do with a crying child, until he cleared his throat to recall his operator's attention.
"Enzan-sama," the navi had no idea what he was doing, nor if it was the right thing to do, but he knew he had to try. When the child looked at him, Blues felt as unsure as ever until he steeled himself and looked straight into the young blue eyes. "I think… I think your mother would be really sad if she saw you crying."
There was a long moment of silence, in which the navi mentally kicked himself for such stupid words. And he was going to apologize if his operator didn't wipe his eyes with a hand.
"Mom didn't like seeing me cry…" the boy murmured, sniffling only once and with a trembling lip. "Mom would be sad now…"
Enzan raised the PET so that it was level with his eyes and he could observe the navi displayed on the small screen. He did say nothing, but Blues noticed that his operator's eyes weren't as sad as before and had a hint of determination.
"Enzan-sama," Blues spoke as he peered up at the dark, cloudy sky that was threatening to spill its load any moment. "We should go home. It's going to rain really soon."
The boy smiled, clutched the PET in his arms and ran as fast as he could towards home.
