"but let my love no longer trouble you. I do not wish to cause you any pain"-Alexander Pushkin's 'I loved you.'

Her sister was staying with a friend in Greece for the holidays that summer; his brother was in London. They were left to each other. And they fell in love. Or at least, she did.

She tried not to recall the memories of those two months. But no matter how much she tried not to, they came back to her whenever she saw the garden at the back of the Burrow; the same garden where they had sat and looked at the glowing moon together; the same garden where lying under the starry sky, they had shared their first kiss; that very garden which just held too many memories to count.

And she couldn't stop thinking about those memories. She couldn't stop thinking about that one date when he had surprised her with a candlelight dinner. Or that other one when they had sneaked into a muggle bar and got drunk and had ended up together in bed for the first time.

The smell of cocoa still reminded her of him; of his cologne, his fair perfect body, his touch. His soft and delicate touch; as if he thought he would hurt her if he touched her with anything less than delicacy.

She wondered whether these memories haunted him as well; but then she would remember his last words to her and think that they probably didn't. Those words still stung.

"Lucy, I think we should stop seeing each other."

Her smile vanished from her face, and she felt her heart drop. "What?"

"Look, I like you, but I don't even know what this is anymore….And your sister-she's going to come back. And I can't bear to hurt her. "

"Ly," she said, in barely more than a whisper, "Leave her. We love each other. Y-You love me, don't you?"

He looked at her anxious face, and said, "I love her. I'm sorry. This….This was nothing. This was nothing but a summer fling. Get over it, Lucy."

His harsh words still stung. He had been cruel with her; with her and her sister.

She had also been hesitant to continue anything with Molly coming back. But she had consoled herself with the hope that her sister would understand, and that he loved her more. And she had been wrong, hadn't she?

But Lucy would try and push these thoughts to the back of her mind. This was nothing but a summer fling. Get over it, Lucy, she reminded herself. She consoled herself. She thought of her sister, of her happiness and she kept quiet about everything.

If he didn't want to be with her, then she wouldn't cause him any pain with her love. Because, no matter how much she tried to think it was a summer fling, deep inside her heart, she knew that to her, it had been so much more.
