Summery: One of Superman's enemies makes a connection to his past
Disclaimer: I own nothing but the out of style shirt on my back, please don't sue
In the electronic world it was nothing but one's and zeros. A file indicating it had been created over ten years ago. At the time it was nothing more then a copy of a semi official record of adoption. The file had grown to include Incident Reports from the Smallville Sheriff's Department, Metropolis Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies all over the world.
The police reports varied, but they had one thing in common. A disaster averted as if by magic and any witness reporting that salvation had come in the blink of an eye. Fires put out, criminals neutralized, property damage either fixed or contained until people where no longer in danger. One report was from London. A bomb blast had exploded harmlessly. A partial fingerprint on the bomb casing not matching any of the terrorists caught later. Strings of data tracking miracles across the globe and back ultimately culminating with the first public appearance of a strange man in blue rescuing a crashing shuttle.
The file was encrypted and secured. Two things that presented no kind of challenge for Brainiac. He wondered if the file creator knew of Kal-el's secret. She must suspect since she had spent so much time gathering the data. Then Brainiac sized on an interesting idea. He made a copy of himself and attached it to the file. If This Chloe Sullivan ever recorded in any fashion news of his destruction at the hands of Kal-el, the electronic homunculus would expand and grew. His doppelganger would enact his vengeance starting with Ms. Sullivan. Brainiac found the irony pleasing. He withdrew from the computer network and erased all evidence he had ever set foot inside the file. When he was gone, there was nothing but electronic signals, ones and zeros.
The End
