Just at the beginning of Vampire Diaries 3, when Damons' pulled Elena off Stefan

Disclaimers: LJS owns the characters. I think the title's also a film.

Death Becomes Her.

He remembered his heart skipping a beat in emotions he hadn't dared to examine, or indulge.

"Of cause I do. You're Damon, and I love you." Damon felt sick as he looked into her adoring eyes, as she said the words he'd always wanted to hear from her lips, from Katherine. Someone cared.

His victory was short-lived over his annoying little brother and having taken the opportunity to touch her teeth, /really/ check what his senses knew, he faced the cold, harsh facts. The snow fluttered down.

Elena didn't have a clue what she was doing. He'd seen the way she'd looked at Stefan, and killing hadn't even crossed her mind. Unless the work Damon was in there somewhere.

No, this was /his/ Elena. The Elena that had just died. The one that didn't know what she was doing. The one in need of blood, help and guidance. The Elena that would make the /true/ Elena, Stefans' Elena disgusted and guilty for evermore.

Damon couldn't even think past the half-hearted thought of 'take advantage of her.' He didn't analyse why. He looked heavily at /his/ Elena that had dismissed Stefan, and was fawning at his feet like a vacant, bright, shiny piece of plastic.

/That's your deal man/, he told himself. /Only when she's mindless, crazed with hunger and blood lust. Only when she's dead./

Damon never – with one or two exceptions – looked beyond see, want, take. It only hurt if he did. He found he couldn't take her, even if she was his. It wouldn't last long.

Keeping the bitterness inside Damon took his Elena to wait for a human. He might as well enjoy the façade within him while it lasted.

Yup, 'tis short. And I don't know if I pulled the look into Damons head off thing very well. What do you think? (*hint hint* REVIEW!)

In consideration of Damon, I also refrained from putting HUMPH! On the end as it's un-Damon and just me.
