A/N This is my first ever fiction and so is only a one shot. So reviews are very much appreciated. I came up with this when I remembered what Booth said in the pilot.

Mulder and Scully
It was just before our second case together that I said it. I used references from their show often as it use to be my favourite show to unwind to. It was irrelevant to anything. It was meaningless to me then just another of my incessant pop culture references that I knew she wouldn't under stand but know that's what I wish. What I dream about more than anything. To be like them maybe not with all the heartache and I hope it doesn't take as long as it did for them. But with their dynamic, with their chemistry and hopefully with their love. As I said it was just said to try to annoy her, just like when I call her Bones but just like that innocent nickname I mad up for her this means more now. Maybe it did then and I just didn't feel how attracted to her I was or maybe I was just in denial because I knew this one was important, I had to take my time. I had to make her see me as me first, not just an FBI agent but an actual person we had to get close, closer than she had ever let anyone else get before and then we would be able to say we were just like them.
Their relationship had sky rocketed from there maybe it had started at that point but he wasn't sure if it had started before that at their very fist meeting. But it doesn't matter now all that mattered was that that innocent phrase had shown what was going to happen, what he wanted, what he hoped to happen. He wanted to love and be loved by her like they had. He wanted to be like them. He wanted to love like them. And he wanted to be loved like them. Just like them. Always like them.
Just like Mulder and Scully.

When he had said it she hadn't known what he was talking about so flippantly. So when she went home she did what she usually did when she didn't understand one of his pop culture references she googled it. And when she had finished she understood what he had been saying there had undeniably a small number of similarities between herself and he new partner and these characters from a television programme. When she told Angela she was unsurprised that she saw more in that simple statement than was meant. But as time progressed she was able to see where Angela was coming from there seemed to be more and more similarities between them than she had first thought and the fiery passion that had presented itself in the one episode that she had been able to see did look very similar to moments between herself and Booth that seemed to be happening with more and more frequency lately. It was unbelievable that she was comparing herself to characters from a fictional program but she was and know she understood why Angela got so frustrated when either she or Booth denied the feelings that were so obvious. But the problem was she had no idea what to do with this knew found knowledge of their relationship.
At the same time a few miles apart they both had the same thought.
'All it's going to take is some time,' they both thought.
'And I just hope that it doesn't take nine years.'
