Moonlight Rose
I held Rose's hand as we walked along the sand. It was actually little pieces of metal, but I decided not to tell Rose that. The moonlight of The Moon Aphro was reflecting of the water and casting a soft glow onto Rose so she appeared to glow. She looked even more beautiful than usual, and I had thought that was impossible until now. She turned to smile at me and my heartbeats quickened.
You touch these tired eyes of mine
And map my face out line by line
And somehow growing old feels fine
I listen close for I'm not smart
You wrap your thoughts in works of art
And they're hanging on the walls of my heart
I knew that I shouldn't be feeling this way. I was a 900 year-old Timelord and she was a 19 year-old human girl. I had seen things, done things that she couldn't even imagine. Besides, I thought as I caught my reflection in the water, she couldn't possibly feel that way about me.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours
And though my edges may be rough
And never feel I'm quite enough
It may not seem like very much
But I'm yours
We walked up the ship dock and eventually came to a stop at the edge. She sat down, pulling me with her, and began dangling her feet in the water. I gently pulled her into my arms and she rested her head back against me chest and I relaxed. She had always had this affect on me. She made me forget everything. She made me forget that there was anything else besides her and me.
You heeled these scars over time
Embraced my soul
You loved my mind
You're the only angel in my life
The day news came my best friend died
My knees went week and you saw me cry
Say I'm still the soldier in your eyes
"The moon is so much more beautiful than the one back on Earth." She said quietly starring up at it her eyes as big as the object in question. I chuckled lightly into her hair.
"Why? Do you think they named it, Aphro?" I asked her. She didn't answer; she knew she didn't need to. "It was named for Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Because so many tend to fall in love with it…and with each other while starring up at it." She nestled back farther into my shoulder and her hands wound their way back into mine own.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours
And though my edges may be rough
And never feel I'm quite enough
It may not seem like very much
But I'm yours
I pressed a light kiss into her hair. She didn't notice. It was better that way. "I think it's working." She said still starring up. I knew that she was referencing to the falling in love with the moon part not the falling in love with each other part. But I smiled anyways.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
I know I don't fit in that much
But I'm yours
"Yeah, I think it working just fine." I whispered glancing up at the moon momentarily for the first time that night.
