Draco's Decision

Draco looked once more at his parents, then slowly shook his head. Draco was well aware that he would probably be dead within the next hour, but he had finally decided that he wasn't going to let his parents decisions affect him anymore. He was his own person and he wanted to decide for himself on which side to be on. And now he finally knew which side that was.

The idea for this fanfic came to me the other day as I was watching HP7 part 2. It's the moment in the final battle where Harry was presumed to be dead and Voldemort is making his speech. I took that scene and altered it a bit!

It was over. Harry was dead. Hermione couldn't believe her eyes as tears started falling down her dirt-stained cheeks. Voldemort was talking, but Hermione couldn't hear a word he was saying. The only things in her mind were those two sentences.

It was over. Harry was dead.

And then Draco Malfoy rushed out of the castle and through the crowd. He stopped a couple feet in front of where Hermione and Ron were standing, clutched to eachother.

The Dark Lord didn't even notice the young Malfoy, as he went on with his speech.

"And now is the time to declare yourselves…come forward and join us. Or die"

Nobody moved.

"Draco" Lucius Malfoy whispered loudly to his son. "Draco"

Draco stared silently at his parents.

"Don't be stupid" Luicis said, holding out his arm, beckoning his son to come towards him.

Draco slowly turned his head, he took in Hogwarts, his home for the past 7 years, the only place where he had ever felt loved. Now it was in ruins. He turned again and took in the sight of the limp body in Hagrid's arms. Him and Potter weren't so different after all.

Draco looked once more at his parents, then slowly shook his head and started backing up.

"Draco" Narcissa pleaded looking at her son with tears in her eyes.

Draco shook his head once more. By this time he had reached the place in which Ron and Hermione were standing. Hermione stepped forward and grabbed his hand confidently.

Ron took one look at his best friends body, then he too stepped forward, putting his hand on Draco's shoulder.
