Author's Note: Has anyone ever read the Silmarillion and laughed when Finrod Felagund and Luthien have singing battles with Sauron and Morgoth? I mean, the great Dark Lord of Middle-earth and the future Dark Lord singing? How weird is that? I asked my Lit. teacher about it, and he said that singing is probably how magic is worked, instead of waving a wand or whatever. Anyway, I thought it would be funny if Sauron sang for fun, and not just to cast spells of some kind.

Glob-hosh limped up the stairs, the never ending stairs. He had started running, then slowed to a trot, and finally to this tortuous limping. He was panting and sweating, but he dared not curse. He was getting close, too close to chance being heard. He was so close, in fact, that he could hear a continuous hissing that might have been noise, or maybe just the wind whipping around the heights of the tower.

After an age of limping, during which Glob-hosh's feet went numb, the hissing became speech with discernible words. The top was near, and the Dark Lord awaited. Well, if He even noticed the snagga waiting in the doorway for any orders He may care to give. With nothing else to do but limp on to his fate, Glob-hosh began listening to the words. And this is what he heard:

Send out the armies,

Drive the hordes forth.

March on to Gondor,

Destroy all Men.

Cut down the mallorns,

Burn them with the elves.

Fill the sky with smoke,

No more sunshine.

Conquer the dwarf folk,

Keep them as slaves.

Plough the fields with salt,

Let no green grow.

Middle-earth is mine,

Fit for my lord.

Glob-hosh shuddered as he stood before the iron door that led to the roof of the tower. If He was singing, nothing was amiss. He would not take kindly to interruptions, but He would not throw Glob-hosh of the roof as soon as He saw him. The conquest of Middle-earth was going well.
