I obviously don't have any connection to Mr. Webber. This was created out of a strong desire to keep our sanity during the busy xmas season! Enjoy!

IN MEMORY OF AN EMPTY FRIDGE
By the Deli Dolls

Midnight, I've a craving for a bite.
Some salami would taste right,
On a nice hoagie roll.
With some dijion, and a kosher dill on the side.
I am waiting, for payday

Memory. All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days.
The fridge was bountiful then.
I remember the time I knew what happiness was,
Let the memory live again.

Every street lamp seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the fridge light gutters,
And soon it will be morning.

Daylight. I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in.
When the dawn comes tonight will be a memory, too
And a new day will begin.

Dried-out ends of cold-smoked hams
The stale cold smell of bologna.
The light bulb dies, now the fridge is broken
The coolant motor is stalling.

Feed me. It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun.
If you feed me you'll understand what happiness is.
Look, a new day has begun.
