"Murdock, I'm not sure why I agreed to this," Amy said, anxiously, as they walked through a large department store. She wasn't sure how Murdock had gotten himself out of the VA for the day, deciding it was probably better that she didn't ask. But Murdock had wanted some assistance this year in his Christmas shopping, and so she'd agreed to help.

"What about some cologne for Face?" Murdock said, spraying from a tester bottle.

"Well, if you do, don't get that one."

"Why not?"

"Because it's awful." Amy screwed up her face, smelling the strong scent as it lingered. She walked over to another counter, with a brand she recognized. She picked up the tester bottle, spraying it into the air. She slowly breathed in the scent of the fragrance and smiled. "This is much more like something Face would wear."

Murdock smelt the scent too, and frowned before he nodded his agreement.

"In fact, maybe I'll buy that for Face."

"Hey, you're stealing my ideas."

"Murdock, were you really going to buy Face some cologne?"

Murdock shook his head.

"I didn't think so either."

After Amy had paid for her purchase, they walked around the store and its different departments. Nothing sprung out for Murdock to buy, although Amy was happily finding plenty of gifts.

If Murdock's hands hadn't been holding the numerous shopping bags for Amy, she knew his hands would have been firmly placed in his pockets as they walked out of another store. She knew he was disappointed, just by looking at him. His initial cheerful expression had turned glum. His enthusiasm had disappeared. He wanted to find something different for the team. And so far their afternoon of shopping hadn't led them there.

"Hey, let's grab a coffee and recharge the batteries," Amy said, tugging Murdock's arm. "I know this great little café."

"You sound like Face." Murdock chuckled and Amy smiled, relieved to see Murdock's mood lighten.

Amy led them to a café on a little side street. As they took their seats in the window, looking out, watching people slowly walk past on the street outside, Murdock stopped talking. He stared out of the window, his coffee cup held to his mouth. Amy followed his gaze.

There it was, barely noticeable with two larger stores either side of it.

They quickly finished their coffee and headed across the street to a tiny little store, the bell ringing above the door as they entered.

Murdock looked like a kid in a toy shop. T-shirts. All different colours, sizes…. All waiting for different motifs and pictures to be printed on them.

Amy doubted very much that Face, Hannibal and BA would wear the T-shirts often. Probably Christmas day, like that special Christmas sweater you seemed to get from your old aunt. But they'd appreciate it was something personal from Murdock. She had a sneaky feeling there was one in his bag for her too. Ah well, it would make a great nightshirt.

Happily, Murdock held out his arm for Amy. She took it as they walked out of the little T-shirt shop, with Murdock cheerfully singing, "Santa Claus is coming to town!"
