Author's Note: A very short one-shot that randomly popped in my head when I woke up this morning. Lyrics are from Seabird's "Rescue". If you haven't heard the song, listen to it! It's beautiful.
Can you hear me?
I'm calling out.
I'm underground.
Would you pull me out?
A blinding light flooded Hell. That's what Dean remembers.
After forty years of pain and darkness. Of waking up to screams, not always his own. Of smelling burning flesh. Of torture. Of prayer. Dean remembers the light that made it's way through the deep shadows of Hell, and shined on him. Then a voice spoke. The demons surrounding him, who had been laughing just moments ago, screamed in pain, and hid away in the dark, where the light couldn't touch them. The voice said, "Do not be afraid." And a calming warmth filled Dean. He welcomed the warmth after being so cold for so long.
"Rest," the voice whispered to him and for the first time in decades, Dean did just that.
When all my hope is gone,
I reach for you.
You are my rescue.
