After the showdown with the Volturi, Bella and Edward decided that it was not safe for Renesmee to live with them but become a normal adopted child.

4 Years Later
I was adopted into a nice, caring family. I have convinced myself that the first four months of my life was a dream. The only things that makes it unlike a dream is the unquenchable thirst which I cannot explain.
I was just finishing up my 7th grade year, when I heard someone outside my window every night. It freaked me out. I asked every night "Who are you?" Then he only said, "Remember." On a Saturday night I stood right next to my window and then I heard him say, "Leah, come on. A little bit higher. Paul are you OK?" Another man said, "Why can't Sam do this?" At that moment I pushed the tower of people that was out my window over and when half of them hit the ground they turned into large wolves. I did not see them for the next week.
A week later, I heard someone outside my window again so I got prepared, but when I looked out it was not the same people. There were two people, a male and a female, I thought I had seen them some where before but I did not know where. They looked up at me and said,"Hi Renesmee do you remember us?" I turned around to call 911, but they where right behind me and said," Please do not call the cops. We are your parents. Don't you remember, honey." I said in a strong voice,"GET OUT NOW" and they left saying, "Wow, Jake was right. She remembers nothing." Those words "she remembers nothing" played in my mind for the next several weeks.
