Summary: 3x19. "You deserve to be treated right," he said, an unreadable expression on his face. "If I wanted to be treated right, I wouldn't be with you," Marissa responded, before moving forwards and kissing him. Volchok was everything Ryan wasn't…and right now- she liked that.

AN: Yeah, based on that quote and scene in S3 ep19. Just wanted to expand it a bit. My brother has recently started watching the OC again, and we're at season three…and Volchok is actually amazing. Cam Gigandet is hot. End of. So, yeah, spoilers for some of S3. Marissa/Volchok and mentions of Marissa/Ryan. Just a little one shot. Not much dialogue. Litterally, like three lines and it's all stuff from the series.

They were sat on the beach, situated near a burning fire they'd set up. She was sat closest to it, and he was lying on the sand, a little behind her, watching and listening. He'd been asking questions, and taking a particular interest in the words, and the concerns and the complaints- about her Mom, but most specifically about her and Summer. She didn't know why he seemed so interested. So she asked him, but his response wasn't very satisfactory, so she decided to press him a little further.

"You seem very interested in my life," Marissa mused, glancing at him, her brow furrowing slightly in confusion, because she just didn't understand.
"You deserve to be treated right," Volchok said, an unreadable expression on his face as he considered the 'lil bitch's' words from their lovely little chat under the pier.
"If I wanted to be treated right, I wouldn't be with you," Marissa responded, before moving forwards and kissing him, ending up half on his lap as the kiss deepened; the pair of them exploring each other's mouths, their tongue meeting in a dance that was somewhat familiar, as they wrestled for dominance. But it was no competition, of course, he'd win. She shifted herself fully onto his lap, leaning against him as they continued to remain lip locked.

Volchok…Ryan…Two very influential guys in her life. But…very different. Ryan needed to feel like he could help people, but he was…so closed off. He didn't understand, she couldn't talk to him. Things had been going wrong…and Perhaps they should've ended it far sooner. But she loved him, she wanted him. She thought she needed him, but she'd recently found out that he wasn't what she needed at all. And then there was Volchok- he was different. He was a badass, he didn't care about rules and trying to help people. She didn't feel like she needed to talk to him, she felt like she just needed to be with him. Screw being 'treated right' and screw guys who did that. She'd been there, and where had it got her? In a two year mess of a relationship.

No. She didn't need Ryan. She needed Volchok. Why? Because Volchok was everything Ryan wasn't and right now…She liked that. She liked it a lot. He brought out a whole new side in her, a side she never even knew she had. A side that Ryan had never really seen. Yeah, she was pushing her friends away- but so what? They didn't understand. They didn't get it. They didn't get what she was going through. But Volchok…with his piercing stares, his smirks, his antics, his violent passion, his words, and his behaviour…made it feel like it might all be okay one day. He made her forget all of the shit with Ryan, and made her feel better about what had happened with Johnny. And right now…She needed him. She really needed him. It was time to move on now. And that was exactly what she was doing.
