Disclaimer: If I owned Naruto, Orochi would be dead, and Haku, Zabuza, and Sandaime-sama would still be alive.

-Gone Too Far-

This time, he had really done it.

His fist smashed into the wall, leaving a sizeable hole. He cursed in pain as his hand began to bleed.

"Dammit…" He threw himself on the floor, his fist trembling in pain; he was still in a royal temper. "Godammit!" He beat on the floor like a young child in the throes of a tantrum.

Why had he been so stupid?! He ceased his floor beating, pulling his feet up to his chest. His head fell to rest on the top of his knees.

He hiccupped and abruptly realized that he was crying. He pulled his legs closer as though he were trying to ward off invisible blows.

He shouldn't be crying. Not here. Not here, in this horrible place. He shouldn't be crying – he'd break his vow! The one he had made all those years ago, when his clan was murdered.

He shouldn't have ordered Naruto to stay behind and cover the team.

"Now he's gone," he sobbed. "All because of me!"

His bony shoulders seemed to rattle with the force of his sobs.

"Why, Naruto?!" he cried to his ancient house. "Why did you have to go where I can't follow?!"

No response came to the young Uchiha save the echoes of his own despairing cry.
