"Ah, sorry! I'm probably busy with something right now, so I wasn't able to answer! Leave a message and I swear I'll listen to it... Maybe~"
The voice laughed, and then a "piiii" was heard.

"..." Kido didn't really have anything to say. She just wanted to hear his voice once again.

She needed to hear his voice once again.

It had been a year, now, since that day. That horrible day. That fucking mission. Kido didn't care- if she could go back, she'd even prostitute herself to get money so he wouldn't have to go and get himself killed.

Kido chuckled, feeling tears coming to her eyes as she heard his cheery words coming from the cellphone, and remembered his words. 'Thank you for waiting for me, Kido.'

'I'm off, Kido.'

Her chuckle soon became a strangled cry, as she covered her mouth, trying not to sob too loud. After he was gone so much had changed. Most days were so quiet, now. There was no one to tease her at all. No one to make jokes on inappropriate times. No one to laugh at the wrong times, to make them laugh with him.

Mary, Momo, Hibiya- everyone tried their best to make their days normal again, but it just wasn't possible. Not for Kido.

After he was gone she wasn't able to eat normally again, sleep like she used to, laugh like she used to. She tried, though. Kido really did try. She never showed that side of her to anyone. She was strong for them.

Always smiling, cooking everyday, seeing them off- although she never saw them come back again. She just stayed in her room once everyone was off, and stared at the wall, and sometimes even threw up the little she had eaten.

Sometimes she cried, others not. It didn't make a difference, really. In the end the empty in her chest would still be there.

"You'll also be waiting for me, right?" Kido muttered under her breath, once the cry had subdued. "You-" Suddenly, the line was cut, and Kido blinked, confused. And then she frowned.

Pressing the green button on her cellphone twice, once so she'd go to her last called contacts, and another one so she'd dial the number once again, she waited.

The number or code you have called is invalid. Please check the number and dial again.

"... Kano?" Kido tried dialing the number once again.

The number or code you have called is invalid. Please check the number and dial again.

And once more. Only to have the same feminine voice saying that.

"... I thought you'd wait for me, too."
