Quickie note: try reading this aloud and feeling the beat.

:i:

O darkened door, all the more I do desire thee—

for my fears and foolish tears shall never let me be.

open to me, and let me see whatever lies beyond,

O lightless door of nevermore, I beg thee to respond!

:i:

O black abyss of macabre bliss, O home of shadows fell:

My mind names and yet disdains you as the mouth of Hell;

but what night is made of light? for darkness is my desire.

Please embrace this nameless face, and drown my ardent fire!

:i:

Even though I've fallen low something I yet fear…

Heaven's gate does not abate its call though I am here.

I hear its song and still I long for something more to come—

a yearning strong for life so long: from this I cannot run.

:i:

Is it too late? O darkened gate, answer this human cry!

to live, to breathe: as sand through sieves I die—

Gate! hear my call and let me fall, for even now I see

my thoughts are fire, fierce desire, and this should never be.

:i:

My mind is broken, this is spoken by friend and foe alike—

ten-thousand shards, shattered barbs of what I thought was right.

I took a chance, a simple glance, it killed me through and through,

and here I stand, my bloody hand reaches now to open you.

:i:

O gate—alas! let pilgrim pass from this blackened place!

I yearn to leave, to never breathe, to see Satan face-to-face

for when we meet in fiery heat I'll smile and say to him:

"A pity, sir, but I concur—I have greatly sinned."

:i:

O gate! this single kiss of fatal bliss, let it brush my lips—

O gate! open wide and do not hide, from Death's chalice let me sip

sweet drink of kings, sweet death that sings its Siren-song to me.

Maiden fair! where is the stair that shall set me free?

:i:

coughs Er, wrong fandom?

Hope that was decent. I did it during geometry today. I dunno. Blame SOHCAHTOA or something. Or maybe it was radiation from my calculator or something. Or my pillow is channeling my lovely new books of Yeats from halfway across the room.

Who catches the not one, not two, but three Macbeth allusions in here? (I'm thinking it was the marker fumes, now. Can you really get high off them?)
