Valentines Roses

By Kyomi Terakada

The product of not being able to sleep because of guilt.

Drabble. My apologies if it doesn't sound coherent.

A blonde- haired boy walked down the halls of the Central Headquarters, bunches of red roses in hand. He smiled warmly at all the people who stopped to greet him. Turning a corner, he stopped by one of the doors, knocked quietly and let himself in. "Hello Miss Ross" he said, cheerfully. "Hello, Miss Hawkeye." He tugged gently at two roses that he had in his hand. Attached to each rose was a name and a message, personalized to the recipient. "I'm sorry that brother can't be here delivering them today, so I volunteered to do it for him."

He stayed to talk for a while until he realized how late it had been getting. Bowing in apology he quickly skittered out and delivered the rest of the roses.

When the teen returned home, he rushed quickly to the last rose that was placed in a water-filled glass. Its yellow petals seemed to glow a beautiful gold, the colour if his brother's eyes. He smiled, tears falling from his eyes. "You said… we'd be together forever… that's what you promised!" He broke down crying, not noticing the petals of the rose had begun to wilt and fall.

General Major Mustang appeared at the door about an hour later. "I see that he's given you your roses as well?" The two women nodded. "He said that his brother wasn't able to come. Perhaps he's sick or something happened to his automail again." Maria Ross mused to herself. Roy could only smile a small sad smile.

Roy vowed never to let them know it had been two months since Edward Elric had been found dead.

Happy Valentines Day everyone. I hope your year is filled with happiness and love.
