Author's Note: This is just a view point on a certain character coming to terms with reality. Hope you enjoy, and reviews are welcome.

Diplomacy

It was funny how times of danger and peril could bring out the best in people. It could also bring out the worst. She was no stranger to danger and peril, but life-threatening, well that was an entirely different matter. Often times the adrenalin surged, giving speeches in front of a large crowd did that, so did wondering whether or not a certain Colonel would live to see another day. She preferred the former, the latter only served to confuse her and leave her doubting every choice she'd ever made. Including, joining the Stargate program.

Many may have taken her role for granted, standing at the top of the stairs and letting the teams go off on missions, after all, that left her to do paper work. Paperwork was fine and dandy, if you happened to like that sort of thing. She preferred doing something, and she never could finish the paperwork until everyone made it back safe and sound. More often than not she ended up reading reports in the infirmary, watching over an injured friend. She didn't enjoy those moments, and neither did anyone else.

But diplomacy came with a price. She had had her moments when, at wits end, she'd been forced to calmly tell a certain scientist to get out of her face, when she would rather have slapped him. It wasn't an easy job, that's for sure. Whoever had told her diplomacy was simple should have been shot - and quartered - or better yet, forced to become a diplomat.

She didn't mind the interaction, quite the opposite actually. She enjoyed talking to people, of all races and nationalities - learning languages and cultures before coming to agreements that solved everyone's problems. If there was one thing she enjoyed, it was her love of languages, and being on Pegasus gave her the opportunity to expand those horizons. Scientists from nearly every country, speaking their own languages - technobabble included - to military personnel who spoke in the bluntest of terms.

Perspectives changed when sent to a foreign galaxy, hers certainly had. From being labeled 'liberal' she'd gone to open-minded, with a healthy outlook of caution. If there was one thing she'd learned from living in the Pegasus Galaxy, it was to never assume anything about anyone. She had the Genii to thank for that.

"Dr. Weir?" She looked up from her musings to find SGA-1 looking at her. They were geared up for their mission, P90 in hand. She gave a small smile, before looking to the gate technician.

"Dial it up." She watched as the Wormhole established and couldn't help but remember what she had said in the very beginning: "…The benefit to humanity is far greater than the risk General, and it is a risk that every one of my exhibition members are willing to take." And as the team vanished through, she realized she had come to terms with something. Despite the good, the bad, and the ugly, they had always come out ahead - perhaps a little worse for the wear, but they could handle that - they always did.

Author's Note: I hoped you enjoyed it...if you have any requests for anyone else I could do, I'd gladly accept them. Please Review and I just might add another chapter to Nightmares. XD
