Chapter 1 of
Sailor Travis, by Gretchen
Warning: This is an awful fanfic. It's mean to
Chibi-Usa, it introduces yet another Senshi.
Just Awful.
Usagi and the other girls sat laughing at the diner
table, laughing heartily and enjoying the levity of youth
when a stranger walked into the restaurant out of the rain.
It was rather hard to miss the tall, dark figure standing by
the doorway of the Denny's in the full regalia of a sailor
Senshi. He smoked a cigarette and had his tiara tilted
slightly so that it covered his eyes, casting a shadow over
his face. The girls looked at each other, with curious looks
on their faces.
The manager stepped over to the man standing at the
threshold, originally just to stare at the guy in the stiletto
heels and a mini-skirt, but ended up asking him to put out
the cigarette.
"It was only for effect, anyway," the man muttered,
stamping it out in a nearby ashtray. He walked over to the
table where the very bewildered looking girls and cats sat.
He stood in front of them for a second, adjusting his
bow, and finally said to the great odango-ed one,
"Are you Sailor Moon?"
Usagi turned bright red and stammered out
"No...Whatever gave you that idea?"
The man sighed and sat down next to Rei and shook his
head.
"Look... Everyone in Tokyo, if not the entire world,
has to know it by now. I mean, come on! You don't even
wear a mask! The only things that change are your outfits
and possibly that your legs get a little longer."
Rei shifted uncomfortably.
"And let's face it, you're not exactly inconspicuous here.
You girls are sitting in a Denny's having a conversation
with two cats. Not to mention this little freak over here,"
he said pointing at Chibi-Usa, who glared back at him.
"You might as well admit it."
"Okay," said Usagi. "Just keep it quiet."
The man smiled.
Minako now spoke out.
"Who are you, anyway? And why are you-"
"You mean, why am I dressed like this?" he interrupted.
"The misfortune of being the only male sailor senshi!
Look," he said, turning back to Usagi, "That's what I
wanted to talk to you about. If I'm going to have to
transform into this every time a villain pops up, I want to
get some form of compensation. I mean, as much as I
would love to run around the city in these shoes, saving
the world with you girls, cats and others," once again
referring to Chibi-Usa, who was now becoming angry, "I
have a life. Heck, I don't even have that, I have a job! Can
you imagine me calling my boss every day saying 'sorry,
sir, duty calls'?
"Wait a second," said Makoto. "What are you
babbling on about? There are no male senshi. And there
are no planets left to be taken."
"Look, it's as much of a mystery to me as it is to you.
This morning I was minding my own business when some
scantily clad, purple woman jumps out at me, and all of a
sudden, I'm floating and my fingernails start glowing!
Next thing I know, I'm back on the ground with a freaking
tacky wand in my hand. Look, can you guys just make
someone else Sailor Whatever I am and let me get along
with my life?"
"It's probably me who you ought to be talking to,"
said Luna. "Although I really don't remember a male
Sailor... What's your name, anyway?"
"Travis."
"Well, Travis, there's no stopping being a Sailor
Senshi that I know of. Looks like you're stuck with us."
