Lily Evans - now Lily Potter, James reminded himself happily - was, in his opinion, the most amazing woman in the world.

She was beautiful, smart, witty, and kind; she was friendly to nearly everybody that she came across, and tried to see the good in everybody. She wasn't perfect, by any means - he had seen enough of her bad side to know she wasn't. She had a hot temper that flared up whenever she was annoyed or felt threatened, and all four Marauders had seen this temper too many times to count, both during Hogwarts and after, usually thanks to their immature-but-hilarious behaviors.

Even though she wasn't perfect, she was still wonderful in James's mind. He had been in love with her since first year, although in those first few years it was simply a small schoolboy crush, something for his friends to tease him about. It wasn't until he was older that he felt true love for her, and although he did date other people, and even, perhaps, felt love for them, he always went back to Lily.

He propped himself up on his elbow and glanced at his new wife. Her red hair was splayed out over the pillow, something he could see thanks to the moonlight shining in from the window. She looked so peaceful and serene, asleep as she was, and he felt a fresh wave of love for this beautiful woman. He knew they were young, just out of school, barely nineteen, but it didn't matter to either of them.

They loved one another. Yes, they were young. Yes, she had spent over five years thinking he was an arrogant, immature prat. But did that really matter, when they loved each other as they did? They had the future to look forward to. Even with the threat of Voldemort looming over them, with the war that had already started - they had each other, and they would raise a family together.

He was sure of it. They would be wonderful parents - everything about Lily screamed she would make a perfect mother. He could just imagine her with a child, how she would love that child more than any other person in the world. As far as him - he would show his son or daughter how to have fun, how to play Quidditch and set up practical jokes. The child would be the start of a new generation of Marauders. He could just imagine the letters from Hogwarts professors telling them of their child's misbehaviors - letters that James would find hilarious while Lily looked on disapprovingly, but trying not to laugh.

He put his head back down and moved over so that he was pressed up against Lily, pulling her sleeping form into his arms. She sighed in her sleep and cuddled closer to him, but didn't wake up. He gently pressed a light kiss to her head. It was still astounding to him that she was now Lily Potter; he had known her as Lily Evans for so long, and even, at one low point in his sixth year, thought that he would never have a chance with her. Now, they were married, together forever.

He couldn't think of anything better.

Aww, I really do love James/Lily, they're so sweet together. Well, this is only my second time writing Marauders Era - I'm definitely more used to writing Next-Gen and Trio, but I love Marauders. Anyway, thanks for reading!
